IIRC, you and I are of a similar vintage. The Springfields were popular between 1960 and 1963 before they split. Many hits and often on TV. Dusty's first hit was in '63 and until about 1970 she had a string of hits on both sides of the Atlantic and she was on TV a lot. However did you manage to miss her?

I didn’t exactly ‘miss her’, MA...indeed I wrote about her version of ‘Goin Back’ - which I’d always associated only with the Byrds - as being brilliant weeks ago.
I suppose it was an image thing...in the late sixties I wasn’t really into the whole glitzy ball gown and dyed blonde hair (it still doesn’t suit me ) thing. I was much more into the Beatles, the Stones, Small Faces, Cream, Dylan etc.
So...great voice and some great songs but appreciated more retrospectively than at the time I suppose.

    Better late than never rA

Those days saw me into Soul and Motown, naturally, Beatles more so than the Stones, Cream, Small Faces, Who, Prince Buster and other Ska musicians, various reggae songs/artists and more.

Latest gig, I went to see the Zombies, was a very good gig, Blunstone's singing was very good and Rod Argent's keyboard playing still top notch. They had an excellent bunch of musicians with them.

Excellent musicians both, CB's kept his pipes better than any of that generation apart from IMO Paul Rodgers

Saw Springst-een in the Arena last night. I left the stadium with a double feeling. I had seen a very good show, exactly what you'd expect from Bruce. 3 hours and 5 minutes with no interval, also the norm for the Boss. Opening 1/3 was some of his newer material, a couple of standards and a couple of covers. middle 1/3 was "Bruce's favourites" allied with plenty of opportunity for the musicians to showcase their talents to great effect. The last 1/3 was mainly a "greatest hits" show. This final 3rd corresponded with it getting dark. Despite the ArenA roof being shut, it does let light in. This didn't really help the atmosphere in the opening 2/3s unfortunately. Darkness saw the lighting come to good effect and the stadium "woke".

The sound quality left much to be desired. It's well known that the ArenA can see the sound reverberating around the stadium. Most of the crowd were also singing along which added to the loss of sound quality as their voices also "reverbed". The odd peep from a mike and when they played "Horizon" there was a lot of feedback.... my lad would have been even more appalled at the sound quality than I was.

Don’t think she was ever in Fairport Convention, Gunt...but I agree about the rest, although it’s a long time since my copy of Pentangle’s ‘Basket of Light’ was last unfolded.
