But one of the English clubs battling Aberdeen for Clarkson’s signature has been revealed.

Reading, who have been relegated from the English Championship, are reportedly keen on 21-year-old Clarkson, while other clubs in the English Championship have also been tracking the playmaker’s progress at Pittodrie.

Agreement of personal terms with the player are the last remaining hurdle for Aberdeen, but Clarkson is considering his options.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the Reds, Clarkson said: “I don’t know, I’ve not spoken to many people about it.
“I’ve told agents and stuff don’t even tell me about interest because I just wanted to get Europe for Aberdeen.
“Now we’ve done that I can start thinking while I’m away on holiday.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. If everything was to be right – and a lot of it is out of my control – it’s a really high possibility that I could be (back at Aberdeen)”.”
WELL,.... That sounds very promising ?

He's young enough to continue his development at the Dons. Play in Europe , win a cup of two , and get a move to a bigger English club in. A couple of years time. Option is go to Reading or the likes , even another Blackburn sized club , and sink in the quagmire of torpidity that is the English Championship.......... ( Not biased , am I !?)

    Thing is ,.
I would imagine that to persuade him Barry would want to show some more intent in the transfer market. ( Which I'm sure he will !! Cormack will be brave this window !!)

Signing Clarkson on a permanent and we should be "building a team around him ". Another couple of good defenders , another " hard as nails" midfielder , or two. ( As Shinnie's card is marked , so expect more unfair bookings ). And another striker. ( As both Duk & Miovski will pick up more injuries over the season )

Thing boy Idzes is a start. Van Vern looks like a no brainer up front ?

    Cake or meringue ??

Don’t know much about Idzes but we certainly need at least a couple of new central defenders so that would be a start. I know we aren’t loaded with cash to spend but the quality has got to be there from now on in. Signings like Marley Watkins etc should not be happening. We are in desperate need of players who can make a difference. Hopefully this transfer window is the best for us in a long while otherwise Robson is up against it.

We should be moving away from loans, specifically loans from the cheeks.
Reading can probably out bid us ( though they've had their financial issues I believe?) but I'd like to think we could put together some kind of contract that would get him back to us.

Loans are a good way for us to improve our squad, but we should be careful of who we bring in and also the loans between teams in the same league would be better stopped.

I believe Clarkson is going out with a girl from out Westhill way. With a bit of luck, it might be what takes him back up here.
