Just joined this post, thought it was about Matt Taylor.

Enjoyed the podcast, whoever it pasted the link, certainly not any of the last 3 posters I should think.

Was every 2 weeks I did nights 4 minimum 10 & half hour shifts Monday to Thursday half hour cause you didn't get paid your meal break used to have that on job most times cause you was on a production rate piecework as well as a basic rate. 5 day shifts 8 & half hours. Worked overtime on nights for the extra money also then I wasn't on full money still in my apprenticeship only got extra money for working nights shift allowance on your basic rate AEU engineering union rules. Worked on large lathes mostly was some work involved setting up before you started machining jobs also on some old lathes tightening tools in for that with a large hammer. Like I said varied work was BSC for 1st 16 years I worked there then got made into a private company. Sorry for long post just to explain.

gru, you dont have to explain to anyone how hard you had to work, you've clearly done your bit and sometimes I just wish you'd come across as enjoying life a little bit more, although for all of us supporting our team isnt good for anyone's health 😫 UTM

Enjoyed the clip with the NYT lads and Matt. Matt comes over very articulate and relatable, great to see him doing things like this. Thanks for sharing

What gets me is when they are on about my English whose on about it what work they done? I didn't have time to to do further education did 2 years college part of my apprenticeship passed that but that was mostly engineering studies & maths which I had to learn I had to work things out in my head for job I did. Was worse on banter on about that but doubt many of them got their hands dirty.

You talk as though getting your hands dirty makes you morally superior.

If you think every job behind a desk is repetitive and doesn't involve any hard work then it shows how little understanding you have of the world.
