    You don't understand when I was at school it was how it should be for kids not too serious. I stopped on an extra year knew I'd be in a manual job when I left but studied more then to me only maths matterd so basically concentrated on that. Got choice of 3 jobs when I left school all in the steelworks went for an engineering apprenticeship at BSC learnt more there in a short time than I ever did at school learnt discipline work practices said before I loved it can't remember ever losing a shift in my 4 year apprenticeship. There 1st 3 months they accessed you your timekeeping your attitude. I'd say who started with me be about 20 half got finished in that 3 months. I must have done something right cause they kept me on then they trained you on machine tools lathes millers not at Millmoor! etc...

    I'm a bit younger than you - I did an engineering YTS at EITB on Petre Street In Sheffield at 16 then onto Durham Duplex, again on Petre Street as a Surface Grinder.

    Work behind a desk, Monday - Friday 9-5 now though.
