Round and round and round we go. Should I merge this thread with the other 32,456 Neal Ardley threads or is everyone happy for this to go on...and on?

This. He is a top bloke and even though by the end felt we should get someone else, he will always earn respect for how he stuck with us and started the current promoted situation. Feel he left SM though, not the other way round.

I'm looking forward to the argument being revived after our return to the top flight in a few decades time.

NA did a very good job in very difficult circumstances. He also did the honourable thing and stood by us when neither he nor the players were being paid. IMHO NA had two great achievements at Notts: firstly, he held the club together long enough for it to be rescued by the Reedtz brothers and secondly, he set us on the path that enabled LW get us back to the EFL. Not exactly a damning CV!
Personally I'm just very grateful to him and wish the very best for the future.
I think that's how I feel. Good post.

I get that we were relegated under him and that Macclesfield weren't that season. However, they had a team who were pulling together; by all accounts we had a divided dressing room. A manager can motivate a team when they are united, but we all know the saying, united we stand, divided we fall - and that was proved true.

I will always have a lot of time for NA and hope he gets another job very soon.

    Cool story bro.

I would also trust Solihull fans thoughts on all matters Solihull rather than me or any Notts fan. That doesn't mean it did not surprise me, top 2?! Wow! Although

By jove I think you've nailed it old chap...you even agreed but managed somehow to disagree beforehand. I think many were surprised that was never in doubt.cool story though.

Someone on here will be able to find confirm but what position were Solihull in when Dallas left? I thought it was about 9th on edge of playoffs, certainly not 15th.
That was always going to be the way though. Solihull have had wage budgets above £1 million in the last 2 seasons. There’s no way that’s sustainable for a club that gets below average gates. The irony is Ardley if he has walked out has done so because of cost cutting, when the reality is if he did the job he was employed to do I doubt there would be any cost cuts.

Ardley gets a free pass because he’s a ‘nice guy’ which I don’t entirely agree with tbh. I found him very arrogant in post match interviews at times, especially when his tactics were being questioned. Ardley has mastered the art of being passive aggressive.

He’s been sacked from 2 out of his last 3 jobs, and has walked out on another. There’s a trend developing with him, the longer he stays the worse the results become. I can’t see any of the top sides in the NL taking him now tbh. I think he’s more likely to drop further down the pyramid. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him end up at a team like Boston.

To be sacked from 66% of your jobs is actually a pretty good record for a football manager.

With solihull appointing a director of football today, I can only presume NA's departure is related to it.
