From the highlights I saw, I think England were quite unfortunate as the Aussies got away with a lot of nicks, which didn't go to hand. It is fine lines again, but hopefully we can get through the last five wickets relatively cheaply and then bat in a more responsible manner that an Ashes series deserves, while still looking to be positive.

Fully expect Aussie quicks to make this look a different pitch

So do I. Our bowlers have made it look pretty placid but I bet the Aussies get something out of it. 416 all out, what's the bet we don't make 300?

There are times when you would dearly love to be proven wrong. Let's hope this is one of them. 112-1.

Like when predicting we wouldn't win the playoffs?

England won’t have a better chance to build an innings with Lyon unable to bowl.

Tongue is the bowler that stuck out for me, while Mr Anderson may have trix up his sleeve, he failed to deliver. Broad was to narrow in his approach and Robinson castaway any advantage that the new ball gave. Luckily Root was on tap to take a few wickets.

Surely on a thread about the Ashes this petty, point scoring post belongs on handbags?

I think it’s perfectly poised at the moment, could go either way. A decent partnership and England are on top, a few quick wickets and we are on the back foot. The red ball game at it’s best.
