    There really is not a lot between the sides, England's catching has cost them dear so far. Oh for a fit Wood and Archer, no greater site in cricket than a bowler sending them down at 96/7 mph. Even greater on a quick wicket with bounce.

    I think that is fair. Bairstow has been bought in because he apparently is a better batter… how’s that going?

    Another difference for me would a that when Australia have got on top, they stayed on top. When England have, and they have in game 1 and yesterday, they have found ways to let Australia back.
    Ironically, in the first 2 tests, day 1 has let England down. If we lose this test by less than 100, then dropping Marsh yesterday, will be a massive contribution.
