You call it a speeding fine. It was simply that, had she paid it like everyone else.
The lengths her and her feller went to, to pervert the course of justice. Shows me, that she like all others should be banned for life from any office post again. She was jailed for it FFS. It isn't just a speeding fine is it?

Have you seen the SNP's rip off of the tax payer, after hijacking into the climate debate?
They weren't even supposed to be there.
So no, I stand by what I say. Most of them are corrupt, its just the scale that changes.

I recognise that and I did say ‘tried to dodge a speeding fine’. No excuses at all, but she wasn’t the first and she won’t be the last.

There’s dodgy folk in all walks of life, Tricky...police, doctors, teachers, solicitors, accountants, developers, car dealers, council officers...you name it. Perhaps if there’s more of it now it’s because of the example we’ve seen from those at the ‘top’ in recent years.

That I can't say, but monkey see, monkey do does come to mind.

But I do firmly belive that anyone involved in public office, gets caught doing anything illegal, you should be finished.
That would make them think twice.
You were in education, what would the chances be of getting the sack/banned from it, after being caught doing something illegal?

How many is that now? I remember in 2021 a headline of 55 of them, jailed /suspended/arrested or under investigated.

Like I said, they are all liars and corrupt, in some way. Some get shouted about more than others though.

Mm so your equating councillors with MP's? Nobody has been shouting about the many Tory councillors either, possibly because its local news rather than those in government? A sense of perspective is required.

I'd maintain that there are more honest politicians both national and local than corrupt ones, but of course they don't make the news! I'm surprised a public spirited person like yourself with so many reasonable and good ideas hasn't put yourself forward to show them how its done!

We can go down the MP road as well Swale if you want? Perhaps you remember the Labour whip doing the same thing?
They certainly don't like accepting speeding offences in the red corner.
Your heroes wanted Braverman sacked for asking the "question" of whether she could serve her punishment in private?
After all the screaming, she simply paid the fine and took the points. Something sadly lacking in the other 2 cases.

You are probably right, that there are more honest than crooked ones. But the very tone of that reply, leaves the subject open to debate and doubt.
Not a very endorsing for the role is it?

PS, don't throw the stand then, idea at me. I did the same to you a long time ago, over the EU row.
I have no interest in all the 2 faced world of a politcian. But unlike many of them, I am honest to the core.
Probably too much so, as it gets me into trouble.
I say what I see and follow the rules, don't ask me to bend them.
( on a side note, in the HMP- prisoners loved that. They knew exactly where they stood and no point asking. Many officers in that service, I can seriously say are not)

Some corrupt prison officers too. No idea why Swale missed them off his list

I’m not disagreeing with you. Just surprised you’ve defended you know who as much as you have if you really believe that sentence about public office.

As for teaching. I do know a headmaster who was found guilty of murder...he’ll never be released so I guess being sacked/banned doesn’t arise.
Beyond that, lots of teachers, including myself, who’ve been done for speeding (breaking the law) which has made no difference, although had they gone on to pervert the course of justice I’d think/hope their jobs would have been at risk.
Possibly more relevantly I can think of two who were done for drinking and driving. One I’d actually sent home once previously because he arrived - due to take a mini bus of kids out - stinking of the previous night’s booze...he kept his job after a period of suspension following his conviction. The other kept his job (officially) but couldn’t in practice because, following his ban, he couldn’t get to work on time.

On the other hand...I do know of two very respectable business people who’ve kept their licences by underhand and illegal means which possibly begs the question...should it just be applied to those in ‘public office’?

You could certainly argue our two players who were convicted after the joiners session were very lucky to keep their jobs.

Aye and the one who whilst may have exercised poor judgement but wasn't driving got sacked and then won unfair dismissal, which I said at the time would be the case. More Morris mismanagement, but hey ho those times have gone.

I went into a failing organisation once and pretty son discovered why it was failing, as most of the mangers and a lot of staff were on the take. It was simple but painful to turn around and didn't make me Mr Popular, but there we are, humans will often give in to temptation.

Decisions based on value to the club, and I suspect similar decisions are made in other businesses.
