I've put my faith in owners in the past only to be disappointed, leading me to conclude that the only time to truly make a judgement on any owner is when their tenure comes to an end.

With that caveat, what I would say right now is that the Reedtz Brothers' stewardship of Notts County seems to have been calm, sensible and strategic and to have the club's best interests at heart. Even before we won promotion, I think most people would have acknowledged that they've stabilised what was a very turbulent ship (on the rocks, in fact) and started to build a consistent identity for the club.

Looking at the club accounts it's evident that we still lose significant amounts of money and that we rely on the owners to underwrite those losses, but there have been no reports of milk bills going unpaid or winding up petitions being filed, so you have to hope and trust that they've got the club's back. In fact, they seem to be investing even more in infrastructure like the new sound system and players like David McGoldrick.

As Laddo says above, making redundancies from time to time is a tough but necessary part of running a business and responding to changes in the world around you. It may be that the focus on one area of work has had to shift somewhere else, meaning you have to release people with one skillset in order to free up the resources to hire people with a new skillset, a bit like releasing players in order to sign new ones.

Likewise, it's human nature that some of the people on the wrong end of those business decisions will feel pretty hard done by and will vent their spleen at those who made the decision and perhaps try to kick back by seeking to hurt or undermine their immediate business or wider interests. All of these reactions are normal and it doesn't mean there's a 'right' and a 'wrong' side.

It's become pretty standard on football message boards and social media in general to hear vague rumours and unsubstantiated claims from people who say they have the inside track or have been speaking to someone else who does, but like Laddo says, unless more concrete evidence is provided, it's impossible to draw meaningful conclusions and unwise to get carried away by it.

From where I'm standing now, what I can see is a club that has made leaps and bounds under the current ownership and seems intent on continuing to do so, and unless and until I see compelling evidence to the contrary, I'm very supportive of the current owners. I can't really see why I wouldn't be in the current circumstances.

Very well written i thoroughly enjoyed that. You've definitely put my mind at ease. I've obviously listened to a few people who are no doubt upset at losing their jobs, and have put 2+2 together and come out with 5. I'm sorry folks, enjoy your Saturday!

Just to be clear, Kyle, I'm not criticising you for posting your concerns, nor suggesting you have any agenda. It's perfectly normal if you hear whispers like this to share them with other fans - it's what football message boards are about - and on this occasion it just happened to be you reporting these rumours first. We shouldn't be shooting the messenger, just discussing the content and deciding for ourselves whether we give it any credence.
