I think people expect higher standards of those in the professions - lawyers, accountants, doctors, dentists etc and probably expect similar standards of their public figures, be they MPs, councillors, judges or Lords.

There is a less rigorous expectation of the white collar carers - teachers, nurses, social work but, as they are public facing individuals there are still standard expected. Obviously those who drive for a job are in a realm of their own.

"Business" is a huge mixed bag form the extremes of bankers to delboys. Actually no they are the same thing. TBH I don't care if my plumber or fruit n veg vendor has a motoring offence. So how do we unbundle business into those who should be in a position of utmost trust and those where it's no issue.

Then of course there are religious leaders....

Interesting isn’t it...and I’m honestly not referring to you and don’t mean this at all personally...but I suspect accountants and solicitors probably ‘enjoy’ a similar degree of public (mis) trust to current politicians, on the basis that every ‘successful’ crook will know a lawyer who knows all the tricks of hiding the truth and an accountant with similar knowledge of hiding the money.
