So many people seem to be wrong. So few people are always right. It's a shame that figures for away support in the dim and distant past were never available. Imagine how humiliating it would have been knowing you only had one supporter in the crowd. Think also of those determined groups of people who did actually attend all those away games who have suddenly been written out of history.
Why do some people just want to constantly do the club down? Why do the majority of us who truly support our team actually give any kind of credence or credibility to those whose sole satisfaction in life is slagging off our team?
I know! I know! You've all got the right to have opinions and I agree you should be able to express them.
However, those people have to realise that us giving OUR opinions is not the same as denying you your rights.
But..flat-earthers, conspiracy theorists and seers of little green men also have opinions and have a right to believe in them. But that doesn't make anything they believe true!
Just saying!

I can never quite understand why my thoughts are wrong and, indeed as you imply, one person and one person alone knows everything. If, as suggested, football was played today on the basis of getting the ball and just running at the opposition goal how dull would that be even if modern day defenders did stand aside and let them. Never heard owt so ridiculous in all my life. The game has developed in all aspects and those pesky coaches have taught footballers to defend to try and stop goals. Nature if the game and all that. But hey ho. I will just continue to be put in my place by those who "know better".

I do know a lot more about football than most on here as I have played at a good standard and I had not one coaching lesson ever as no player had in the past and the players today don't know how to play this game and neither to the poor quality coaches we have had...The game has not improved as rarely do you see players taking other players on or fast wingers and great centre halves...We had centre forwards like Frank Lord that has the record of hat tricks here. He was a really great player at this level and great to watch, he needed no coaching as none of them did as they had natural ability that got them playing pro football. Don Revie ruined this game with his negative tactics as baseline tennis has with that game...ie all the skills have disappeared. This game is about scoring goals and winning games. We play in our own half and have one or two shots on goal and you think that is progress, Timmy? And BTW, the games were a lot cheaper to watch back then too..

Did they let the great players of the past just stand there? No the game was passionate and ugly and great..Now its a nothing game where players are paid vast sums for little skill.
