Such a shame that it ended like it did….spozzy Aussies. Would have been great to go into the final test all square.

Crap way to end the competition! A deciding test at the Oval would have been immense and would have attracted massive viewing figures in both hemispheres. The cricket authorities must look at alternative ways of ensuring a result can be reached on the pitch.

Elite, International, World class sport decided by rain in Manchester sums up the lack of common sense in cricket.

But we did not lose the Ashes because of the rain - Where was Woakes for the first 2 tests? What inspired declaring so early in the first test? - Totally outplayed in the 2nd test - No team has won the Ashes from 2-0 down since Sir Donald Bradman flipped the 1936-37 series' script on its head with consecutive scores of 270, 212 and 169 in the final three Tests. And England have never done it.

The rain papered over the cracks.

The irony won’t have been lost on the Australian,s that they’ve retained the Ashes at a washed out day and wet English weather.

With regard to changing the rules to try and cram the overs in, inclement weather works both ways and we have benefited many times in the past. Maybe it’s only relevant when we are in a winning position

Stokes should have declared earlier on Friday afternoon to try and bowl their top order out earlier in the day, which they did….eventually. Then we might have had time to skittle their tale enders in variable conditions

Let's not forget that when we got that session after the rain stopped on Saturday our bowlers were poor and only managed to take one wicket.
That was definitely a lost opportunity.

Due to the weather conditions, weren't we restricted as to which bowlers we could use in this session? No fast bowlers etc?

England have named an unchanged squad for the fifth and final Ashes Test, which begins at The Oval on Thursday.

    No surprise there then.

Wasn't there only 30 overs bowled?

It’s been a fantastic series of cricket!

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the decisions made they’ve all been in attempt to get a result!
