I'll still take that result and performance though, no matter who we were playing. After last season, it was like watching f*cking Barcelona

Re comments about how poor Arbroath were....yes they were, but as I said last night you can only beat what's in front of you.

I don't see anyone getting carried away with the result, just happy to see a sharp devastating performance from us, something we've not seen for a long time.

And....I think we would have beaten a good Arbroath side anyway.

The set up, intensity on and off the ball, possession, rhythm, creativity, on the deck, was night and day from what we've had to suffer. JG has to take a lot of credit for this. Hopefully more to come.

Agreed. Arbroath might've poor, but we were devastatingly clinical. It's been a long time since I've seen us play like that against anyone.

If the 3 wins last season prior to split, and defeat to Spartans tell us anything, it's not to make hasty judgements. It's really hard to tell just how good we were last night, we need a good 4-5 games to gage the team, they showed good intensity last night, even second half up to the subbies, played some really nice stuff too, but watching the goals back, some of the space we were afforded and mistakes from Arbroath were really poor, was that due to them not being able to cope with our intensity/movement? I think with a few departures we will possibly see some more additions too, and Fotheringham to come back. Moult already looks our most important player and key to how the team plays, we have no one else to play that role.

One thing you can say without any doubt, the keepers an upgrade! No way the Aussie would have saved that deflected Dow shot down the middle, he couldn't even save non deflected shots down the middle of his goal.

He was also done by a Mulgrew passback from the f*cking halfway line

One thing that concerns me with the keeper is his positioning at free kicks. He almost 100% relies on the wall and hugs the opposite post. If we come up against a free kick specialist, he isnt getting across to make the save. That said, he looks excellent overall. A massive confidence booster for the back line. Not sure about the homemade short sleeve shirt mind you. ✂️

Newman made a decent save last home game v Killie from their striker shooting from near the half way line, could have been the set.
