I'm willing to give Kayode a chance can't write him off yet but he's got to impose himself more when he gets in the side. McCart can't loan him out can see him starting Saturday then it's up to him to keep in the side, could he play left back if we go to a back 4?

All this is bad luck crap comes from people clutching at straws to defend the people of making poor decisons. Signing Peltier was an awful decision, it was clear last season he was a journeyman coming to the end of his career and although he could fill a few roles he was not capable of being a first choice championship player in any position, you reap what you sow and MT got this wrong. I propose that we will see a lot of angoing injury issues to the older players through the season, we have gambled going for older championship experienced players and that is the risk. people keep saying "judge when the window is closed" this has its merits, however we will be 6 league games into a season by then and a bad set of results could have us in an unrecoverable position. We stayed up last year after a good start, we all know that a good start is crucial yet the club have not done enough to help us achieve that. I am sure will we now here a list of excuses, they may also have merit but that doesn't detract from the facts we have started a season with an unfit squad and a squad nowhere near capable of a successful championship campaign. The idea of football is to win games, that means scoring goals and we do not have a goalscorer at the club, our answer was to get another old man. Yes budget is a huge factor and nobody in their right mind wants TS to bankrupt the club, but we were told investment would be there, do not make promises if you can't keep them. We could have looked at bringing in younger players from lower down the league, other clubs do this, also the foreign markets, it is an easy get out to say we don't have the budget and there is nothing we can do. We have full time recruitment team their reason to exist is to find a way to bring in players, to be smarter when working with the authorities on paperwork, to identify potential lower league players to suggest strategies and players that could be worth a risk. Please don't come out with "what would you do?" it isn't mine or anybody elses job on here to do that, we have professionals that are paid to do that job and at the moment their output is questionable and that is what we are doing, raising these questions. Let us also not forget that MT says NONE of our young players are capable of stepping up to championship football, yet other clubs bring young players through, what does this say about our youth set up, we have had years and years to get that right and as of now it has also failed. Sorry to gru for writing another long post or to others for being down on things, as stated before it is my nature to look at the worse case scenario and then hopefully be delighted when proven wrong, but i feel the points i make above are valid, there has to be questions asked about this close season.
As I understand it, the manager has chosen to sign these players, working within the usual set budget. From recent signings, most fans contributing felt that the manager has been better backed, although many feel that the previous manager didn't spend all that was available. Both managers decide who to sign and are accountable to the signings they make. Not Stewart or anyone else. Of course, there are huge other factors, such as convincing the right players to sign for us. But still, Taylor chose to sign these players and I hope it works out for him and them

Nothing imminently incoming though. Paul Davis referred to good news last night, but I can’t see any.
Think we’re being spun a little bit to be honest.

I agree he has the final say and he sets the criteria from a managers perspective, there are other factors that are set by the people that run the club. At man city pep has no say in contract terms at all, the club have strict criteria on length of contracts related to various statistics, age etc. I would suspect a lot of clubs have similar ways of working. I think it is unfair to put all the blame/praise at the managers door, whether this one, the previous one or any manager.

I think that the fact that we signed Hall, Morrisson and Peltier almost right away was completely Taylor's decision, no one else's. Like most, I can see why, they are very good players, but also like most I hoped that Taylor and the medical team were making a good informed decision on their long term fitness, knowing more than we do. But it is worrying. As I said, I hope to god they play enough to make it a wise decision. But more so than chasing the signatures of the later arriving players, Matt wouldn't have signed them if he didn't want to. Certainly on these 3 players, Taylor has to take responsibility, successful or not.

Andre Green (groin) and Grant Hall (hamstring) have trained for #rufc today. Being assessed until Saturday morning before a decision is made on their fitness for the Blackburn game.

    Hopefully Wiles is available too

Boss Matt Taylor confirms he's had a bigger recruitment budget to work with this summer but accepts #rufc will be "blown out of the water" by bigger Championship clubs.

Why so many words! I've already said age concerns, last seasons long term injuries Hall Morrison Pelts were signings I wouldn't have made but I'm not the manager. What else needs to be said!
