It has been reported or at least hinted at that the South East corner has a drainage problem at the point where all of the Dens pitch drains into an out flow pipe which flows into the main town drainage going down under Dens Road. Is it not the case that the Dens Burn flows underground along more or less the same route? It has been said that the problem lies with the ancient local council main drain and that this has worsened in recent years causing us the problem. The way the poor groundsmen had to work to clear the water you would think that, if there was a solution in our hands, they would have had it attended to even taking into account the general dilapidation at Dens. I don't know if there is any evidence of this, only going on reporting/posting elsewhere, but it seems sort of plausible and despite the fact that, if this is the case, the club should be letting the fans know it is DFC after all and we don't do communication well.
A couple of days ago there was a post on this subject on the Dark Blues Forum (Pravda) which stated that Scottish Water are responsible for drainage under Dens Road.
If that is correct then Greg Fenton should be reporting the matter to Scottish Water to take action.
Last June there was a photograph on the Club’s Facebook page showing the south east corner of the Dens Park pitch flooded after very heavy overnight rain.
In my opinion this should have been been a wake up call for Greg Fenton as there was obviously a problem with the drainage in this part of the Dens Park pitch which happened again to a lesser extent last Saturday afternoon during the Motherwell game.
If we have a wet autumn and winter then a lot of Dundee FC home games are going to be cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
Neil Doncaster of the SPFL is not going to be happy if this happens as all 33 games have to be played before the split with little spare time for postponed games to be played in midweek.
