But my gripe with the police is standards and priorities.

The bar has been lowered so much, that all sorts now infiltrate their ranks.
Their priorities are so messed up, it;s beyond a joke. From burglaries just being logged and not attended. To playing political games with woke agendas.

The Met is the pinacle of corruption and warped ideals. *** cases/fraudsters/racists/violent bullies etc.
    That isn't funds, it's recruitment,ethics and training.

I've told you before, just watch a youtube video of a member of the public videoing from a public place and watch their reaction. It's a lawful activity, which they do themselves, yet their interpretation of who can do it and who can't results in false arrest/ and hands on. Then a compensation pay out, time and again.

I defy anyone, who tells me that standards haven't changed in the last 20-30 years, never mind just the Tory rule.

There was a time, when your car radio got nicked and the coppers would come out, look and try to arrest someone. Now? You're lucky if they take a rape seriously and that's if they haven't done it.

Something is seriously wrong in there and more an more forces are getting pulled up for it.
Not going to disagree with everything there Tricky although I think your preoccupations with ‘woke’ and ‘gay rights’ are huge red herrings.

There is at least some truth in much of your criticism but in my experience these changes you speak of are from the last 10-13 years not 20-30.

I’ll stick with teaching because I obviously know much more about that than policing.
I know for a fact that people I appointed as TA’s 15 or more years ago are now performing the role of teachers. Why? Because they’re cheaper.
Look too at the whole notion of ‘Assistant Heads’. What are they? They’re Deputy Heads in all but name...fulfil the same role...but are paid a great deal less. I can’t really tell the difference between an Assistant Heads job description and my own as a Deputy from over a decade ago and yet I was still paid more pre 2010 than they appear to be now.

So, in teaching at least, standards are being driven down and the career structure ruined by underfunding. Your ‘bar has been lowered’ theory is true in education and may well be in the police service but, as with the NHS, years of underfunding are the principle cause much more than one of your other hobby horses.

I agree. But because funding has been lowered, would a person in your profession have a free reign to commit racism/*** acts/mysoginy/ fraud and break the law as they see fit?

No I doubt it very much.
I used to be proud of our police for not having firearms. I now dread the day they get them, because its coming.

No, of course not...and I very much doubt they have such ‘free rein’ in the police force either. To an extent you only see the worst, most news worthy stuff.
Generally though, because the bar is being lowered by underfunding, less appropriate/suitable people are being attracted and that, imo, is the problem.

P.S. Come to think of it...your football team apart ...can you come up with anything at all that has improved over the last 6-10 years?

'Mobile' communications (basically everything that can be done on a smart phone) due to govt freeing up frequencies
TV and radio choice/quality, same reason
Goods deliveries to the home, due to govt deregulation (remember the days of 'please allow 21 days for delivery'?)
Early contact with NHS (through 111 for instance), I've found it excellent albeit the first responders sometimes tell you what you already know
Access to GPs and/or services that we used to expect from GPs, the evidence I've seen is that its about how well surgeries are organised, not funding especially.
Integration between GPs and hospitals, my experience is that (govt funded) initiatives have made that waaay better
NHS app. Brilliant where the professionals populate it promptly and properly
    Payment schemes for prescriptions
    Payment schemes for 'ladies' things'
Access to ombudsman schemes and sanctions for bodies who they judge to have failed
Public ransport (buses), on major routes. Cleaner, comfier, more reliable although that may be over a longer timeframe than 10 years
Air quality due to govt green initiatives
    etc

I will only answer that, so long as we commit to talking about how well NFFC have improved and become the pride of the midlands,
