    Back on topic...

Last year we played them at theirs on August 20th, this season on the 19th at ours. Last season's Aug 20th game was a 0-0 draw. We had 61% possession, 27 shots to their 8 and 9 on target to their 1.

This Satdeh? It's not an "if we lose we're going down" game but one of those might not be too far away. 10 to 12 games in and results and performances at their current level would see many a coach heading for the door marked exit. PW won't be one of them as I'm not sure we can afford the compo.

I don’t think we’re there yet, but a few more home failures and a continuation of the disappointing form shown in March, April, May and now August and, as you imply, we won’t be far off serious questions being asked.

It’ll be a sad indictment IF we only hold on to a manager and his staff because ‘we can’t afford the compo’, but David Clowes is said to be worth about £250m and the question may become, how long can DCFC continue not to look elsewhere before the fans start voting with their feet?
55,000 for the first two home league L1 matches of the season, when many fans are still on holiday, is quite an achievement. Suffice it to say that many of last night’s initial 25k were beating the traffic long before last night’s final whistle.

I'll go for a 2-1 win. The football is bad, but so is League One, so we'll still pick up the odd result. Needs to improve quickly, Warne will get a hiding from the stands if not

That is, indeed, said. What most of those saying it don't realise that much of it is tied up in Clowes Developments with Offices, depots, plant and machinery and building materials and land upon which they wish to build etc..... IMO, the vast majority of that £250M is not liquid assets he could use to buy players with or fund compo to PW and his staff.

I'm sure (can't provide evidence I'm afraid), I remember him saying when he took over that the club would fund itself, so I don't think his underlying wealth will be splashed on compo / players.

I wasn’t suggesting he should be buying players...just that, IF push comes to shove and things continue as they are, then he is wealthy enough to recognise that things aren’t working and start afresh before the rot really sets in.

Hopefully it won’t come to that, but as regards Saturday I’ve just had a horrible thought...the ex player factor...doesn’t Jack Marriott play for them? Oh the horrible irony if he should grab the winner.

We lost 2-0 to them here last season. I have just had a look at our form. Last 15 League games W5 D3 L7 for 18 points. Extrapolate that over a season and that would have seen us 16th last season. One place and one point behind Burton. I'm going for a scraped 1-0.

I thought we were pretty consistent last season, in that we beat the teams below us and struggled against the teams above us, the timeline skews that underlying stat and makes it look like we finished poorly.
A 1-0 win would do us wonders, not least a clean sheet.

We did ‘finish poorly’...we took 15 out of the last 39 points available to us from the beginning of March onwards.
