I absolutely dislike going to the dentist, but I had an unusual experience last year. About two, maybe three years earlier I was eating pitted olives but I accidentally bit on a piece of rogue stone in an olive and that knocked off a small part of the middle lower tooth. Some time later that tooth became loose and I had an abscess.

Went to my wife’s dentist and he said the tooth had at some point suffered trauma, which brought to mind the day I had eaten the olive. He gave me antibiotics for the abscess and then weeks later did route canal treatment. He couldn’t get to the root though and after mush effort he back packed it and said he’d done his best but he had failed. (I don’t know all the technical stuff, only that this machine he had kept bleeping but did not bleep for long enough).

Long story short, after over an hour and more, he said he had to call it a day. He hoped what he’d done would work but he said it may not have. When I went to pay, his estimate was around £300.00 quid before he started, the receptionist said he is not charging because he’s not happy with how things went.

Still got the tooth. Still use the same dentist because of his honesty.

Hope you and the wife are ok.

Enjoy the game on Friday.
Talk about being “off topic” this one takes the biscuit!

I’ve got a rear tooth each side at the top that I’ve been told I need root canal treatment.

I used to hate the dentists but got over my fear years ago as I had the same excellent dentist for about 34 years, at one point five years ago I had all four front teeth and crowns replaced with one beautiful bridge, my teeth look like my last school photo from 45 years ago due to him doing such a perfect job.

I digress, I don’t fear the dentist but I really didn’t fancy the root canal work so I took the antibiotics and upped my mouth hygiene in a massive way.

I never used to floss or use those TePe’s for getting between the teeth but I now do this and I clean my teeth three times a day, I probably spend 20-25 minutes a day now cleaning them.

The fractious teeth have settled down and I’m hopeful I can avoid the major root work.
