Fraud for tax evasion. He got a 21 month prison sentence but the law in Spain says you don't serve it if the sentence is under 2 years, the fact he could pay it back reduced the sentence so he wouldn't have to serve time. Was millions. Guess he must have been hard up.

And on a serious note even Man U believe he’s innocent of the accusations made, so he’s best ally been tried in the court of social media. I recall rA many moons ago saying ‘none of us are virgin white’ (I paraphrase anc agree with him) and even if MG is a prize prick there’s no law against so being, jeez we’d be short of footballers if there was

Having looked at the details, there is it seems evidence in the form of pictures and recordings that apparently aren't disputed - the context may well be and as always context is important, but if I had my old HR hat on would say are possibly be enough to take action under an employment contract (given that for employment its on the balance of probability). So it seems that Greenwood has done the sensible thing and reached an agreement with Man Utd to walk away and get his career back on track at another club with a lower profile. He has also admitted "making mistakes".

Personally I'd say he has made a wise decision.

He can move on but will this issue continue to haunt him? Let's say, for the sake of argument, he is in talks with Crystal Palace. Palace fans go up in arms as they don't want "his sort" at their family aligned club. The club breaks off negotiations... all quite feasible.

He's not been found guilty of any offence but enough will say "no smoke....." and there's a real chance of a backlash at any prospective new club. Considering the content of the recording to which I alluded in an earlier post, fan protest would be very understandable. Saying he's not bothered whether she wants *** or not is irrelevant because he does so that's what's going to happen. I'm not sure he's the type of person PW, and quite likely many fans, would want at DCFC.

This soap will likely not end any time soon.

I think we, DCFC, should just distance ourselves from it all. It’s Ched Evans Mk2 isn’t it...so maybe PNE will snap him up.
Both decent footballers but footballers are, like it or not, role models. If other clubs see things differently that’s up to them, but personally I don’t want DCFC represented by someone who behaves in such a way...so just as, in my playing days, I would have steered clear of certain individuals in the dressing room, I hope we steer equally well clear on this one and given PW’s assertion about ‘character’ I imagine we will.

Difference was Evans was, on appeal, found innocent. Greenwood had charges dropped.

Still think value to club will affect their decision. Liverpool didn't get rid of Gerrard under similar circumstances. Charged with assault but charges dropped.

    I've already mentioned ronaldo.

Same at Derby, they sacked Keogh who at the time was expected to be out for along time, but retained Lawrence who had much more value, Bennett survived I believe purely because of Lawrence, I still believe had it been Anya and Bennett who drove then both would have been sacked.

United also retained, and recently, re signed Johnny Evans so maybe how much media attention a case gets affects the decision made.

Greenwood is still a top player, worth what £50 million or more, talk is he will go abroad, which seems sensible option.
