Today could be the day to announce a big U-turn in recruitment policy. Gone are the days of fishing for non league transfer free agents.

It could be some youths with basic IT skills messing about on X Twitter in the school holidays of course but the face and arms of Sam Nombe, £1million plus star of Exeter, have appeared in the No 10 Barnsley shirt belonging to Benson, ready to be unveiled to Barnsley fans. The Tweet was quickly deleted but the secret could have leaked for a short while, which would be a marketing spoiler for the media team.

The signing of Nombe, who has hit a purple patch in his career scoring 15 goals last season for Exeter, means this swoop would be a massive coup to launch Ahmad's change of direction. Speculation is rife as to how this will be funded and which player(s) are about to leave. Some have even suggested he has been brought in to cover the sale of Devante Cole but that is, of course, pure speculation.
