The warning signs with Cormack was there when he named the training ground after himself, should have been named after Teddy Scott or Willie Miller but that’s what an egomaniac does.
The fact that McInnes was never interested in signing players from anywhere other than the uk yet all of a sudden decided to sign a South American right back playing in Norway for £800k should have set alarm bells ringing.
To then come out in interviews after sacking Glass and Goodwin saying he texted some of the players asking them if they thought he should sack them is bordering on insanity.Maybe he’s doing that right now about Robson.
After the 6-0 Hibs game he went on the radio crying because he had to get rid of Goodwin, yes you could argue that shows he cares but he’s clearly not mentally stable to be running a football club if he’s doing stuff like that.
He’s made mistakes, absolutely, but Jesus, he’s light years better than that absolute shyster Milne.
Off the park, we’re night and day better on fan engagement, PR, making the footy a good day out etc.
Burrows is an excellent appointment.
Commercially we’re also light years better, as our transfer dealings prove.
He’s put his money where his mouth is. No manager has ever had a bigger budget to spend. Can be no complaints about that.
He’s a fan. He gets emotional. He’s probably too public with it sometimes but fück me, I’d rather have that than some dribbling Ã*rsehole telling me we need a strong Rangers.
The managerial appointment is obviously his most important job & yes, he’s made an arse of it twice (maybe 3 times but I don’t think he had much choice after Robson got third) but Milne also had a raft of absolutely horrendous appointments - Alex Miller, Paterson etc.
He’s not above criticism at all, but give me him over a guy who absolutely ruined my club for 20 plus years any day…
I’m not saying Milne was a good chairman I was actually one of his biggest critics but Cormack is turning out to be equally as bad but in completely different ways.
He’s put his money where his mouth is but if he’s signing players off the basis of some guy telling him that he recommends a player because he saw him on a YouTube clip ,no manager is ever going to be successful with that structure.
I might also add that Stewart Milne blew a lot of money on shyte in his first few years, put the club in a lot of debt which is probably what Cormacks doing too.
Have to say as well that Stewart Milne was in charge for 21 years as chairman and we had 8 full time managers in that time.
Cormacks been in charge for 4 years and he’s half way through that already so god knows how many managers he’s going to through and bubble about having to sack on the radio.
Excellent post.
Add to that the players coming through the academy and the success of the age-group teams.
It remains to be seen what will happen with the stadium (nothing is my preference) but the strategy seems to be more than 'how many rabbit hutches can I build on Pittodrie?
Never been a Cormack fan boy, but as posted above, the club is a far better place since he took it over than it ever was on the baldy builders watch.
I don't think Cormack wanted Robson. I'm not in the know and know of anyone who is, just got a feeling that Robson got the job because of what he did, results wise, in a very short time and few or us argued.
It will be an interesting few weeks ahead, but I am still hoping all will come good and this thread goes away.
We all hope that but results and performances will dictate how long this thread hangs around. The main person who can influence that is Robson himself and right now he's sinking very quickly and doesn't appear to know how to get himself safe.
He's got a couple weeks grace with the International break but make no mistake if we get pumped or even if it's close but our performance is honking then he really is last chance saloon going into the County double header. The Frankfurt game is a hiding to nothing so don't expect that to have any bearing on his job safety.
That guy is still there, enjoying the influence over the club without the hassle. Cormack absolutely loves the showbiz so it works well for both of them, if not for us. Cormack does a lot of things better than Milne, a lot of things worse.
Two different flavours of shyte.
It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Cormack didn’t want Robson.
He didn’t have a choice in the end after the results he got.
It’s not a secret that Cormack went for Wilder, the Spanish waiter who managed in Japan and Steve Clarke and they all told him to poke it because they wouldn’t want to work for a guy who interferes as much as he does.
I will be fair and say Cormack has done some good things for the club since he took over that Milne would never have done but it’s not in a better place.
We are no where near being a club that will win trophies on a regular basis, never was under Milne and don’t look like being one under Cormack either.
I think, and it's easy and simple to say, that we're a decent manager away from being a club that could win trophies on a regular basis, lots of essential things are in place compared to when Milne was the top dog. Hopefully Burrows has been keeping an eye on the targets he had in mind when he was appointed, just in case things went Pete Tong with Robson and we can attempt to bring them in if time's up for Robson.
