He scored a hat trick on his debut for us and I have an idea he did the same for Bristol City.
Great player - I never forgave Tommy Doc for getting rid without even seeing Galley play....
I remember seeing him years later at centre half for Hereford - a major contributor to their league & cup successes....

I used to watch Bristol City in the late seventies when I lived in Gloucester. They were a top level team then (Division 1) the highest level pre premiership. Must have seen Gow & probably Chris Garland too.

The first centre forward I saw when I started going to Millers games was John Galley who played up front with Frank Casper, Les Chapple, Keith Pring and Barry Lyons.

I remember being upset when Galley moved to Bristol City and as mentioned earlier he scored a hat trick on his debut for them in a 3-0 win at Huddersfield in December 1967, the season we were relegated back to level 3.

Going back a little further I remember seeing John Atyo for Bristol City in a 2-1 at Millmoor but I particularly recall the game later in the year, albeit the following season when we were 3-0 up with fif**** minutes left but drew 3-3.

I remember going to Ashton Gate, early 90s ? when we had just sold Leo Fortune West and had been tonked 6-1 at Cambridge ? Next game was Bristol City, we won I think 1-0. I may be wrong on some points.

Nardendee, out of interest I also lived in Gloucester in the 70’s and left in 1976 to come and live in Rotherham

    Are you from Gloucester Daveed?

It was 77 / 78 when I lived there. I was engaged to a lady I met while she was working in Sheffield. Lived with her parents for a while in Hempsted & worked up on Innsworth Lane. Things didn’t work out so I moved back in with my parents.

I always remember the welcome back I got “ Don’t think you are coming back here for the same board”

    Yorkshire wit eh!
