What happened to getting a statue of him ?
I honestly don't understand why the club hasn't made more of this event.
2pm if anyone can get there
Unveiling a plaque on Clifton Lane wasn't ideal, with traffic going up and down, but the officials did their best.
Tony wasn't there but Paul Douglas was so at least the club had some kind of representation. There were two others in Rotherham training kit (not players) so not sure who they were. As an event it looked like mainly friends, family and local press. There was probably 50 people or so. Ken Monkou is a fair old unit.
Would gave liked to have headed up to this, but timings didn't quite work.
I'm over this way today but just a bit too late.
Currently in Butcher's in Swinton just about to go for train back to Sheffield.
Read one of the links earlier about Arthur Wharton supplementing his income as landlord of TWO pubs.
I'd not seen that before.
Fascinating stuff.
Bit of a different life for footballers.
In fairness just 30 or so years ago let alone over a hundred years.
