Mvhr does however have a down side.
They only lower the temp by 5 or 6 degree from the outside temp. So if it's 30deg outside the room will only be 24-25 Deg. On a plus note they are way more efficient and the noise levels are about 25-35 decibels.
Airco get a lot lower temps but on a down side run at 45-50 decibels and you get blasts of cold air not a constant room temp.

It's all about air movement.
Mvhr are 0.8 -1.5 per hour.
Aircons 2-4 per hour

Not sure why the builder would fit a Pav systems in a new house. They are are great for houses with damp/condensation problems but new builds are too airtight for them to be effective, most new builds now are fitting the mechanical ventilation systems. I've never installed one but hear some great things from folk who have them.
as you mentioned you don't get the cold chill like you do with Pav plus if you get the full package which Inc the chiller unit you get summer and winter control

Cayton thanks, I am going to check out the system we have got fitted as it may well be the mechanical ventilation system and I may be able to upgrade to the chiller unit. I will let you know on here
