One of the occupational hazards of being a Notts fan is once we start doing at all well we think the manager/head coach and players will get poached by other teams. Disappointing to see Tom Williams on Twitter saying not only would LW be top of Swansea’s list he would go as well if it was offered.

I would love to think we’re in a different position to previous occasions in that we have a settled ownership and clear playing identity and culture which will make prising away our assets much more difficult than before. Luke’s wife appears to love Nottingham and seems very settled here. Which doesn’t mean that if a club the size of Southampton for instance came calling he wouldn’t go, but Swansea? Probably/hopefully not.

He's been doing a bit too well, hasn't he?
I doubt he made too much of a living from his playing career and at 42 maybe he hasn't from management either....yet.
And his is such a fickle profession, you have to strike while you can.
Timing is important though. He could go at the first opportunity (like Burchnall) then crash back down. Or he could continue at Notts on the upward trajectory knowing those opportunities will still be there because his star will still be high in a couple of years' time.

To be fair, that Tom Williams spouts quite a lot of utter rubbish. Seems to think because he has access to wyscout he has all the answers. Nothing says someone is put of their depth when they defend Southgate because the England team of 2004 was better than the current squad!

Love him or hate him, I am not sure you can say Burchnall has 'crashed back down'. Isn't he at Wolves? He may not be Head Coach / manager, but I would bet it is considered as big if not bigger job than he had with us.

    Who said that?
I did say he left at the first opportunity though, if you check the post again.

The implication is that he could do what Birchnall did, but I guess it is a little ambiguous. Anyway, I'm not having a go at anybody, my point really is that for a young manager, striking when the iron is hot is not likely to end in a crash and burn situation even if things go horribly wrong. So, I can see him going for the first attractive job in the Championship. I don't think L1 would be quite as attractive at this time, though.

LW will be with us until we are in Division 1, or Championship, just an opinion.

Leaving at the first opportunity and then crashing back down is only part of the story. As we know since the Forest Green Rovers sacking he quickly found employment coaching at Belgium giants Anderlecht and now first team coach as Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers. That is a considerable and speedy bounce after the fall.

As for our current head coach, there is always a risk whilst he is doing superbly well at Notts as there are always Championship clubs losing managers and wanting the next big thing on the cheap from a lower division. Nothing worth worrying about just like those historic facts.

LW is a coach that we have not seen the like of, he is unorthodox in his pursuit of how he wants his football to be played & this is in complete tandem with the owners. He has carte blanche with how he does this, very few clubs will offer a coach that kind of opportunity.
Of course this is just an opinion.

So the 'Burchnall Bandwagon' is still rolling for you?
