I went to Georgies, so am very familiar with the area but I never ventured near the gas works.. just saw it from the school (east wing).. for those that know, will know. I remember the chippy down the road towards great bridge did amazing chips. Then obviously Carters Green had Donna’s diner? I do need to revisit the area just to see what’s changed.

Does the Kings Square and Queens Square shopping centres still exist?

I remember the nightclub under kings cinema, the rotating dance floor. I only ever went there once. That’s sad to hear they guy passing, working there from a young age.

Sad to see it all quite though, online shopping has really killed it I bet.

Out of interest, where did you grow up? I went to Lodge Junior and infants, then to Georgies. I always went to the Lodge arias Youth club. This makes we wish there was a time machine taking you back.

We lived in Dawes Avenue, my twin still live in our family home it was left to the both of us I gave him my half as my house was paid for.
No squabble over money like some family's.
Used to play football on the players, went to the old Lyng school, then we was the Ist in the new Lyng school which won an architect award and still looks good.
We used to go to lodge rd youth club and had my ist pint in the back room in the Lodge tavern back room. When the beat copper came in the front bar she take the beer off us and put pop on the table, for when he did a check.
She started us on half a pint, till we got used to it then a max of 2 pints we was only 14. The Lodge tavern is now a womens hairdresser's

Lodge Tavern? is that located inside the Lodge Road youth club? If it’s the ‘bar’ which did just snacks and had a shutter roll down - didn’t think this was called the tavern- or i completely misunderstood. ha
One guy i remember working there was a guy called Timer. I’m 43 so went mostly when i was 16-19. Went to the boxing classes there too which got me into that training.

I know the one you mean now, on the corner with oak road. Doesn’t surprise me it’s become a hairdresser. There was a barbers literally there on other side of road.
