I Think Mansfield were very fortunate they played Stockport when they did, Stockport had a shaky start but have since won 7 on the bounce, no way Mansfield would beat them now in my opinion
We do not know how stags will play against teams in the bottom half, there own supporters say they like teams that are near the top that attack them, i still think they will lose soon to a team near the bottom - and i will laugh my head of when they do
Mansfield have now been in L2 for 7 or 8 years and have still not got to league 1, this is our first season back at this level- i predict a top 7 finish for us , as top 3 although possible maybe is a step to far ??
I stand by the fact we will get to league 1 in a quicker time than Mansfield , and ultimately in the meduim term will be in a higher division than them
I don't know if we'll finish top either, but I do know that we've played supposedly the best this division has to offer and not looked like losing to any of them.

How it goes over a long season is anyone's guess and things can definitely change, but we're as good as anyone in this league.

It's also worth noting that yesterday was FAR from our strongest line-up. Best striker injured, best creative midfielder injured, 2nd best CB injured, best right back injured. When they come back, we'll be even stronger.

Think you will be top 3, undefeated for 13 games suggests you’re going to be very consistent which we probably aren’t with it being our first season back, I think Stockport will win it though.
As for the other spot, possibly Wrexham but I think they will have to spend a big in Jan for it to happen, else could be anyones.

There might have been more of an argument had Chicks been in the matchday squad.
I agree that with the LW's team yesterday that wasn't possible. I am thinking more long term, throughout the season. But, maybe yesterday maybe transpose Rawlinson for Cameron ,(or the loanees like you said), Nemane or Austin for Jones and put Chicks in as left back. But, technically just playing 3 defenders is the issue really, particularly with the lack of pace we have.

Time will tell of course, but personally i think they were all just knee jerk reactions to a shocking result -that seems far worse because it was against our local rivals.
Sometimes people justify a heavy loss by saying the team were or are that much better than us, as for me it was our own mistakes that lead to every mansfield goal, not their brilliance as some think
Thats my opinion which makes football interesting, its over now so lets move on, its a bump in the road for us nothing more, we will get stronger and better as time goes by

To illustrate my point in 2015 when we were league 1 and mansfield league 2 we played Mansfield at home in the League cup and beat them 3-1, and becuae of this one result some mansfield town supporters were calling for their manager to be sacked, this is the nonsense like yesterday that comes from losing to your local rivals

I think you mean the Irish lad,we made a 6 figure offer for him and for another centre back who plays in Division 2 both 6ft 4/5’’ and both their contracts up in January(whether if they had got 1 of them they would have still gone for the other I don’t know) but it shows to me that the transfer panel and LW know the weaknesses and are addressing them.
Of course LW is going to keep defending his defence and the players as he still needs them and wants to keep them confident.
I also don’t think we have the biggest budget and if we made a loss of 1.7 million last year(think the brothers said they were prepared to lose 1m per year then they are already putting more in.
From what I have heard we have quite a lot of players on low wages.

Without wishing to sound like sour grapes, I do think people are going a bit overboard in how good Mansfield were. Set pieces good, but we’re terrible at defending set pieces. Before yesterday they’d scored 1 goal in 3 games.

Obviously Gillingham and Newport still to come, but Wrexham arriving in 2 weeks, who personally I’d like to beat more than Mansfield. I’m gonna have nightmares about what Steve Fletcher and the other bloke might do to our defence.
