It’s a no from me, and how he gets a game for England is a mystery. We probably will lose Tonali for a season, minimum, but we can cope. Centre forward and centre back priority areas for me.

I disagree, I think midfield is an area where we need to be particularly strong with all the competitions we're in. If we lose Tonali and two of our central midfielders get injured, we're screwed. Don't know if Phillips is the right man for the job, but he's obviously not a bad player. Whether he fits in with the system and how(e) Eddie likes things, I'm not sure.

We absolutely need to bring in a replacement if Tonali is out.

Bruno, Joelinton, Longstaff, Anderson,Willock, Miley, I hear what you say about 2 being injured, but we could say that about every position, if Wilson and Isak, or Botman and Schar got injured at the same time we would be screwed, so I would rather we spent the money on a CB and a CF if it came down to a choice. We might both in January.

The Lad was mint for Leeds. We don't have a proper CDM. Bruno is a CDM in the same way that Pirlo was a CDM, I believe the cool kids call that role a 'Regista'.

Phillips offers a different dimension to the others in the Squad. Saying that, young Miley is of a similar profile. However, 8 yrs behind in terms of development.

Having Phillips sat mopping up in front of the back 4 would free up Bruno, Willock etc to affect play higher up the pitch. Alongside Joelinton our midfield dominance would be even more frightening.

Another consideration to taking Phillips is that Chinless fanny South-Gap would spend more time watching our matches and would, for any other manager, promote Longstaff & the other overlooked English players chances of inclusion in future England squads.

    In conclusion.

I'd be happy to see him come in on loan and see if he can recapture his Leeds form. He's a quality player. A loan would give the club and fans the chance to see what he can do.

I wouldn’t want us to sign him before having a look, get him on loan with a buying option.

Yeah man loan is the best option for all parties at this point.

Phillips will need to prove he can match the pace and intensity we play at.

We need to maintain our top 4 position into next season for all the reasons we have debated here at length.

If it doesn't work out on loan we won't sign a dud.

Toney's suspension is the precedent - Eight months: Ivan Toney.

He was guilt of exactly the same thing as Tonali. Any longer suspension should trigger an appeal from NUFC.

8 months in plenty. He will miss the rest of the season and be available in July for Pre-season. Perhaps he might make the Italian Euros team, however, I wouldn't hold my breath if he's gonna be without regular football. I don't see the Italian National Team Manager picking players who aren't playing for their clubs sides at the top level, like say the Champions League.

It's not like Italy are managed by South-Coward.

He needs to go somewhere, that's for sure.

Pep has clearly re-evaluated his opinion of him so he's not going to get much more game time than he does already. I think he'd be a very good signing although the player himself has already made it to the top club in the country and may not consider a move away.
