Good point in the end but our passing let us down today and made them look even better than the actually are.

We were Clumsy / lazy in possession another 20% accuracy and we would have won the game.
At least 20 failed passes in that first gave the momentum for them to get forward.

Best thing to come out of the game was our 2nd choice keeper Killip, my choice for MOTM, he did everything right and almost saved their penalty.

Why we started with both Benson and Russell I found this totally baffling.

Cosgrove enough said the door now opens for Jalo I hope.

I still struggle to work out Collin's preferred "first choice" team he would regularly want to play.

i still struggle to work out Collin's preferred organisation and tactics.

Given the arsing abart from one match to the next the results, including todays, have been good against the weaker clubs but not so good against the stronger rivals--Portsmouth, Oxford, Peterborough, Blackpool, the type of ooam games we were winning last season.

Not a penalty for me on the grounds of proximity and the arm being in a natural position for that movement.

It's a closely bunched league with just five points separating Barnsley in 3rd place and Derby in 11th. with four clubs below us having a game in hand.

Need to get the ooam form sorted with the Shrewsbury and Fleetwood games coming "thick and fast".

    Agree SB.
We often struggle against teams that line up 343 like Orient did.
What it does is pin our wingbacks back.
Which the commentators picked up on.

Discussions within the team going on throughout the game of where the wingbacks should be positioned.
Williams on occasions shouting at OKeffee to get forward.
Cadden also had a poor game.

Without the wingbacks the supply up front dries up.
And that’s what happened against Orient.
But we have an head coach that should have ironed all those problems out before a ball was kicked.

As for the 3 mid midfield players.
We can see what Russell’s position is - but does anyone know where Kane and Benson where supposed to be playing ?
Again and again Kane picked the ball up facing backwards.
Inevitably his pass went either sideways or backwards (tally counter at the ready for the next match).
He then appears at the edge of Orients penalty area and scores a great goal.
Why isn’t he appearing in that part of the pitch more regularly?

Excluding the Conway Two - comparing the last 3 head coaches:

Ismael - the midfield and wingback players knew where to pass the ball without even lifting their heads up.
Everyone was drilled to the third degree and knew exactly what their jobs were.

Duff - the organisation seen under Ismael decreased under Duff - but it was still high.

Collins - I can see that we are still sticking with the same formation of 352 - but the players - especially the middle 4 (excluding Russell) don’t seem to know when to stick or twist - when to move forward or to hold back.

We have a great set of players - so far, the best I’ve seen in this league - which was again on show against Orient.
Barnsley dominated Orient - but we still only managed a draw.
The reason for this is that the team has still to play as a team.
The team organisation isn’t good enough.
We see glimpses of togetherness but we arn’t consistent enough.
Often the play is difficult to watch.
    That’s the responsibility of Collins.
IMO there’s a big question mark hanging over his head.

I can't comment on the game itself as I didn't watch it .

A mixed bag of reports from those that did .

Nobody seems to know what Collins is trying to do is the stand out opinion .

I saw a comment on bbs that Collins is making mistakes because he's inexperienced .

Well he is and he isn't , plenty of seasons in Florida on one hand and hardly nothing in the EFL .

Depends on your view of what constitutes experience I guess .

Personally I'll take the experience thing right out of it , I just don't think he's very good .

Not poor or in Schopp territory , just distinctly average and certainly nowt near the level of Duff .

Your obsessive criticism of Kane is beyond boring, once again if you watched the game you will have seen him spraying balls out to the flanks at every opportunity , when are you going to recognise that it is the movement off the ball into space what determines the pass that Kane makes, and lets be fair without his quality yesterday we would have come home beaten , the only player who is on the same wave length is Styles & he was missing , Russell had taken route & refused to move & Benson is short of match practice therefore Herbie was trying to run the midfield virtually on his own at least when Mcatee came on he offered some movement & tempo .

I’ve got to admit when I saw we had Killip in goal I though we we’d lose by a couple of goal but to be fair the lad had a very good game and was unlucky not to get his fingers to the penalty, which would have been justice because for my money it was never a penalty but let’s hope we get some of those decisions go our way.

You are right Doggy, I thought Killip did very very well , also his distribution was first class , on a few occasions he got the ball out like lightening to start off counter attacks , it will have done his confidence no harm at all .

I’m a fan of Benson - but he is clearly playing out of position.
As for Kane - he reminds me a little of Mowatt - he can pass and he can shoot - but he’s too slow and he can’t tackle.
As said - tally counter at the ready for the next match to count how many times he takes the easy route out by passing sideways or backwards.
Kane is supposed to be the best passer of the ball at the club - it’s not as though we haven’t got willing runners up front - because we certainly have.
Cole, Watters and McAtee run their blood to water running into space only to see Kane pass sideways or backwards.
    Kane has got no bottle.

The midfield needs changing IMO to 343.
    With two anchor midfielders.
Such as Kane and Phillips are not strong at defending.
So for me it needs a middle two of Russell with either Stiles or Benson.
With Russell alongside Connell as the dream team when he’s back.

343 would be my preferred option - basically because we are getting no support for our strikers coming from midfield - we haven’t got a natural attacking midfielder.
Luke Thomas was the last one we had.
A bad day when he left.
So we may as well go with 3 strikers and seal off the middle of the field by having two anchor midfielders.

Using 3 strikers and mixing them with substitutions means we currently haven’t enough strikers at the club.
So Marsh and Fabio need bringing back into the mix.
