Just five more games without a penalty equals the record in any club's history. To be fair, yesterday the ref awarded a free kick just outside
the box but only on condition we didn't score.

48 years to the day yesterday since we beat Real Madrid 4-1 in front of 35,000 at the BBG. Now we’re anxious about the visit of Exeter City!
How times change...well for us anyway.

16 shots to 11. 7 on target to our 6. I would suggest all 6 of ours were as good as, if not better, than all but 2 or 3 of theirs. The two keepers performed excellently when it was needed. Theirs, more often than ours.

As for "dealing with their tactics", how often did we either not clear, or only half clear, the lumped in ball? Probably no more often than usual but it's been a failing of ours for a few years now.

As the Four Seasons sang many years before 'Oh What a Night', sheer bliss, we'll ignore the return match!
Leaving my pleasant memories behind and returning t o the current depressive situation who has how many shots or how many were on target, who has the most possession, who's goalie did the best or whether the ref was crap, at the end of the day it's all *******s!! The simple fact is we lost!! We lost because we ain't good enough, we're in the middle of a league full of journeymen who ply their trade year on year at this level. We are below teams who ain't brilliant or world beaters but who get the best out of what they've got, both as players and as manager and coaches, whilst around us and below us are teams who don't get the best from their journeymen. Now, whether that's the players or the manager or the collective is a mute point but the fact is we are currently amongst the teams that don't. At this point I offer my apologies to those players who we or they believe can make it at a higher level but in so doing may I respectfully suggest that you are not showing us that you are not journeymen and until you do you remain journeymen, got it! Oh and that goes for Warne as well!.
Personally, I don't hold much hope that things will change in which case we will remain not good enough!

Sorry MA, I think you missed my point which is much the same as mac’s. It doesn’t matter if we created as many or almost as many chances as the opposition...whether their keeper had a(nother) great game...whether we scored the game’s only (own) goal or whether everyone wants to beat us because we (along with Portsmouth) have the biggest reputation in L1.
All that matters is that we aren’t performing...we don’t appear to be improving...we’re falling further and further away from the top two and closer and closer to the bottom half of what is, imo, a very average ‘third division’.

P.S. Just got home after taking my car to a dealership adjacent to PP. Doubt there’s any problem with the pitch for tomorrow night but travelling in from the A52, anywhere else near the river and parking may well prove problematic tomorrow. Derbyshire is back to normal but riverside Derby is a mess.

Time to worry is when the oppo keeper doesn't have a damned thing to do. As long as we keep forcing 6 to 8 situations a game where a good save or a last ditch goal line block is all that prevents us from scoring things should, eventually, improve.

Again, too many fans think JW has been brilliant keeping out however many he's stopped yet the same thing at the other end is down to our own crap play. Will someone explain to me, in a sensible fashion, why exactly the same situation is viewed differently at one end of the pitch to the other?

I have to say MA that, personally, I don't see the relevance of how well keepers allegedly perform, I may be wrong but I always thought that they were there to make the occasional save! I'm not into 'their keepers made better saves than ours' or we 'created more good chances than they did'! To me that's just fairy tales. 'Chances', now that's a word where the definition of seems to vary from supporter to supporter or even from manager to manager). To show that it's Enid Blyton stuff to say their goalie had a worldie I understand that, according to these new fangled stats that say how many goals per game we should be scoring (based on our play), we are actually scoring more than we should be!
At the end of the day this is a results business and we ain't getting them, like it or lump it that's all that counts. Twas ever thus!

My point, mac, is that when JW makes a good save, fans on Social media see it as just that, a good save. Get up the other end of the park, their keeper does similar and it's crap play by us. They seem to want it both ways. Yes, the keeper is doing what he's paid for but a good save is just that, whether it's our keeper or theirs who makes it.

As an underappreciated ex keeper I totally agree Mac, goalies are there to save the bloody ball, and incidentally Wildsmith imo is our most consistent player over the last season and a quarter and PW didn’t recruit him. As you say, chances mean nothing

Sorry MA, usually agree with you...but the time to worry is when you’ve taken 9/21 points in September and October, you’re falling further and further away from automatic promotion and your captain is falling out with fans and possibly the manager as well.
