I didn't think they looked that good - really disappointing afternoon.

It seemed that it would be an afternoon when we just weren't going to score. Felt very tense.
We have to do better with half-chances. Looking at Sky extended highlights we dominated chances in the first half. We could get away with it in the National League, but this is different now.

Ref bottled it from other's comments regarding Mullin. Couldn't see from the FS.

Hope Palmer's injury isn't bad. Without him and Bostock is a horrible thought.

I thought that after the team is submitted to the ref at 2.00 it can't be changed. Tozer wasn't even on the bench.

I also thought that you could only have 1 on the edge of the technical area .... They had more for much of the game.
As long as the 2nd one is not giving intructions

Not fun. But apologies for being overly annoyed.
BCnotts18, sorry to hear. Stay strong, better times are around the corner.

Who set the remit of double promotion or its failure?

So far I’ve only seen one game we deserved to get beat and that was Mansfield. They were far stronger physically and had extra quality . Today was completely different. As others have said the officials bottled the red card with Mullin kicking out at Jones. Secondly we created enough chances to score two goals ourselves but we were just missing that final bit of something extra in the final third. That’s what we learn for the future.

Also we controlled and dominated the game for long periods in the first half especially. In the second half not so much and the deflected goal unsettled us, whereas the second killed it off. As LW said it could have been 1-0 to either team and I agree.

Expectations should be simmered a little. Of course it would be brilliant to get double promotion. There are plenty of games to play and as long as we stay in the mix and by that I mean top seven then we are doing just fine.

Patience got us out of National League at the fourth attempt and we may or may not have to wait a little while we slowly build. But I would not write us off yet by no means. It’s inevitable Mansfield will lose within the next few games after their 19 game unbeaten run. As others have said we’ve not played Stockport yet either.

Keep the faith it’s not all that bad.
It just make one reflect what an amazing job that Sirrel and Warnock did, back on back on back promotions!,out of all the "special times" we have had of late those were the ones that seem almost impossible to repeat in this era. We can only hope that the depth of our squad gets stonger with mors players that are as good as the ones they replace as subs.

I went with my partners eldest who is a West Ham fans and sees things a little differently. His thoughts were that the ref was rubbish and bottled the sending off of Mullin, that we were very niaive and predictable and that we were probably just the better side but a scoredraw would have been the fairest result. He also mentioned how lightweight we looked against them.

On the long journey back to Thanet we were trying to figure out why we never looked like scoring. What we thought was that we made it too easy for Wrexham.

When we were attacking, especially in the second half we would attack down one wing, the Wrexham defence would drift across, we would stop, turn pass back and across to the other wing and the defence would stuff across that way. Towards the end they were drifting before we had started the process of changing wings leaving huge gaps in the centre but nobody took a chance to run into those gaps. We just became so predictable. A few shots from distance, runs into the box would have given their defence something to think about. The sort corners were another example. We were never going to win an aerial fuel, but they were putting 3 men just in front of Jones for the corners, a long one every so often, even if it were put to the far side of / edge of the box would have stopped that, but we never tried anything different.

Our defence was excellent today. If they hadn't had that lucky break for the first, we wouldn't have conceded the second and apart from that we looked pretty secure.

On the way back to the car we were chatting with some Wrexham fans and they felt the same (except they saw the Mullin incident differently).

Overall we were look good for finishing at the top end of the table, another day we would have won that. There were some good lessons there, and we have proved good at learning our lessons. I think we will be in the mix at the end of the season, but my feeling is we will be in a group fighting for the 3rd promotion spot behind Stockport and Mansfield. We could as easily finish 8th as 3rd though as I think it will be quite tight at the end.

Once the instant reactive strong emotion is taken out of it and the breathtaking comments subside there is some really good stuff in there.

I concur with the earlier person who highlighted that yesterday's game was fine margins between two good teams and could have gone either way.

Bostock huge miss, huge! One because he's too quality for this level, two because our replacement options are limited and a huge drop off in quality and effectiveness sadly. I love their considered patient approach because it works but the recruitment team took a gamble since Bajrami got injured with no addition means we've been left short and it shows.

Yesterday's game was hugely different to the Mansfield one, although both resulted in defeats at home against top opposition and title contenders.

Too early to say especially with January window coming up but so far we look short of a automatic promotion place but well set up to extend our season with a playoff campaign. That would be an impressive and satisfactory first season at this level for me.

Defeat this weekend in front of over 16,000 in a competitive game disappointing without a doubt but bigger picture folks. Bigger picture.

I agree with this,we are predictable fortunately it is effective against most teams as we get success down both flanks - aren’t Manchester City predictable ?
Credit must be given to Wrexham for their defending doubling and even trebling on the 2 wingers and making sure they defended their last 3rd
It would have been interesting and obviously joyful if we had gone 1.0 up because then they would have had to be more adventurous in open play.
Good to hear you say the defence were excellent,I certainly don’t think we are every game but we also aren’t as bad as a lot of fans are saying

‘We’re not top 3 material’ despite being in the top 3.
some of the criticism wouldn’t be justified if we were in the top 10, but we’re 2nd FFS!
I swear fans that make these stupid comments are part of the new brigade that never endured what others have endured for the last 25 years!
Well i have been a supporter for 40 years so i have endured and had hapiness over the years
We are 2nd, but not really as Mansfield and Morecambe have games in hand so we are really about 4th or 5th at the moment
LW has learned nothing from the Mansfield match - the commentator asked him outright - you were sucker punched agian just like Mansfied 1 then 2 - LW had no answer ??
Overall i predicted a top 7 place for us, which is obtainable looking at how the table shaping up
There is no panic, we just need better players, if we believe LW is getting the maximum from the current ones, all yesterday was , especially after the Mansfied defeat was the REALISATION that at present we are not top 3 material, as we have been beaten on our own pitch by 2 rivals . Highy dissapointing but we carry on, and i do believe season by season we will get stronger, my prediction is league 1 in 2 or 3 years, unless we get rub of green in play offs , or do a stockport and win 10 on bounce
