I think your point about Hamas ‘obliterating’ the rules of war can likewise be applied to Israel, both in its response to Oct 7th, and from its long history of war crimes against Palestinian civilians, those who support them, and many others (for example, journalists that cover the conflict).
However I think the author’s point is to question whether or not an organization that commits war crimes loses its right to conduct legitimate military actions. If the answer is ‘no’, they don’t ipso facto lose such a right, then we can still condemn any war crimes committed by both Hamas and the Israeli government without denying their right to exist. If the answer is ‘yes’, they do lose any rights to legitimate military action, then in order to be logically consistent we ought to condemn and disband both Hamas and the Israeli government (or its army or any of its ruling parties that have governed over war crimes - however we are to divide that pie), as well as probably every army you can ever possibly think of. Otherwise, the constant demands to condemn and eject Hamas are just yet another exercise in social conditioning and manufacturing consent for the subjugation and/or extermination of Palestinians.
Is there a hole in this logic that I’m missing? If so what is it?

Thanks for that Jeremy.
I know... I was trying to be funny, but as I aspire to Dad Joke levels, I'm not surprised it was lost on people

“Now is a time for war”
My heart sank when I heard this. Nothing can condone what Hamas did. What Isreal are doing borders on genocide. Quite ironic.
Explain TSANHO, how you would deal with Hamas. Nice cuppa and a chat over biscuits maybe?
Looks like the Yemen have joined in. Iran backed I would imagine.
