Where the referee lived used to be listed at the end of match reports in the Sporting Post and other football sections of newspapers but now that is no longer done.
Why does it matter where they live?

Because they could show favouritism to their home town club and they might even be a supporter of their home town club.
A referee whose home address is listed as Aberdeen might have been an Aberdeen supporter before he became a referee.
It has been posted on Internet forums that Bobby Madden was a Rangers FC season ticket holder before he became a referee in Scotland.

Referees should be compelled to state which football team in Scotland they support (if any) before they are appointed to referee SPFL matches.
Steven McLean never refereed any matches involving the Dabs because his brother played for the Dabs.
The same thing happened when Steven McLean’s brother then joined Ross County. Steven McLean did not referee any games involving Ross County.

…so according to your logic they shouldn’t get games for teams they support as they could do them a favour….but can referee games involving rivals…where they could do them a favour?

You've not really thought this through.

That is why we need referee from England and the Scottish referees can officiate at EFL matches.
I see that a Celtic player was sent off last night during their Champions League game in Madrid as a result of a VAR review.
I doubt if this would ever happen in Scotland to a Celtic or Rangers player playing in an SPFL game or a Scottish Cup tie.
