Playing an instrument is good for the brain

Just spent more time today trawling through various drum tutorials on Ableton but they all seem to involve using the preloaded kits to create your own beats from their individual components rather than being able to simply use the samples as the are. For creating a "proper" drum track that fits a song, I totally understand the need for this ability in the program but all I want is to use these kit samples on a loop to play over and record, a bit like a having a kind of more sophisticated click track. Maybe this option simply isn't available?

Think I will have to spend quite a bit of time learning how to program drums on Ableton so may be sticking to my old Yamaha or Alesis for a while yet!

If you do, at some point, find out whether what I would like to do is possible then I'd be very grateful if you would let me know but in the meantime please don't spend any more of your time on this for me and very many thanks for the time you have already put in 👍

Will do. Look up Jim Dooley for drum tracks it’s a good option. You can put the downloads in a folder and add it to your DAW. You can also chop them up as required. Just split-copy-paste etc.
