    Plus all the injuries.

I think he's made a rod for his own back with his past comments about premier league and us shopping at harrods. I think if at the start of the season he said to the fans, Look, we've got a bottom three budget, but we're well run and I'm not prepared to put the club in any danger, so just staying up is the aim and it'll be a massive achievement if we do, but not the end of the world if we don't. I think we'd all accept that and get behind the team. If you'd have said to us 15 years ago we'd have been yo-yo-ing between league one and the championship for nearly a decade we'd have all bitten your hand off. So I think it's possibly his fault some fans expectations are unrealistic. He's running the club in the right way from a financial point of view but he needs to be more honest with the fans, and perhaps even himself, about what is realistically achievable on our budget.

    Good point Wilts.

Evans was regularly castigated on here for his "scatter gun approach" and excessive turn over of players. There was some real vitriol against him and the general consensus was good riddance when he moved on. I'm surprised at how many think he's now the man for the job.

Just shows how fickle football fans really are.

I'm not sure about Evans. If the interest is true it must be because of what he has done at Stevenage because he wouldn't be even talked about if he was still at Mansfield,Peterborough or Gillingham. I must say that his success at Boro has come as a huge surprise to many as he seemed to be on his way down to a career plodding about the lower leagues. Any new manager will still have the same injury issues. Time will tell but the odds are still way in favour of us being in League 1 next season and MT would have been a good manager to have then.

Masbrough street what you say is true but TS is a salesman at the end of the day and is trying to sell the idea of RUFC climbing the league and one day getting into the Prem nowt wrong with ambition but there’s a fair percentage of our fans who wouldn’t accept him saying basically 4th bottom is the target even though the majority of our fans think this anyway I know I do and agree with you the last few years have been the best since I’ve been going since early 80s

Can I just add my two pennorth to your question please Lol?
I often see comments suggesting that TS "runs our club brilliantly" but think that is a much too limited view.
There is no doubt that he runs the financial aspects of the club exceptionally well and that we just about live within our means because of the generous support via his other business. It has often been said that the club would have gone under without TS's prudent guidance and I have no issue with that from a financial point of view.
However, where I think we are severely lacking is that we are essentially a one man band surrounded by a number of senior people who seem extremely comfortable in their jobs but appear to have zero influence in driving change.
So much of what goes on behind the scenes comes across as amateurish, lethargic and old fashioned and I fear that is a significant hindrance to achieving the radical restructuring of the club that MT said he was brought in to do. He never stood a chance and neither will anyone else
Yes we may get a new manager who may win a few more games, he may even keep us in the Championship but in reality nothing will have changed. The same inertia and problems will still be there and it's not all because of the size of the budget.

Honestly, I'd just refer back to what I said. If nothing else, it may strengthen that idea. If sacked without given adequate time, couple with inheriting a depleted squad that most think isn't up to standard, how can you lose? Either perform a miracle or it will be 'nobody would of saved them, they were crap whoever was in charge'. That will be the outside view IMO.

The whole 'TS dreams of the Premier League and we must use it against him whenever we encounter failure' approach is so nauseating.

We had a core squad still, that he relied upon. The fringes did change a hell of a lot but the core group were just that.

Can he do it now? Maybe, maybe not. No more sure or unsure than I would be with any appointment. There is no foolproof option, unfortunately.
