    The Met. Police.

It appears that there is now an investigation into corruption by a senior police officer regarding the murder of Stephen Lawrence. Is it never ending with this force? Is it any wonder that people query the impartiality of the police during the recent demonstrations.
I have always been a strong supporter of the police as my father was an ex-policeman himself. However, when he was a serving police officer and I was a ****ager in the early sixties, I always remember him saying to me that the Met. Police was a different ‘animal’ to the rest of the police forces in this country. I’m beginning to understand what he meant now!

That the failings in the Stephen Lawrence case still have not been properly addressed is a scandal but the Met have had a certain reputation for a very long time now. Remember how Thatcher virtually used them as part of a kind of private army during the Miners strikes in the 80s to break up union activity using tactics that included obvious "fit ups".

Policing can be an exceptionally difficult and too often thankless job but the public should rightly expect certain standards from them-standards that too many in the Met particularly have failed to meet over the years.

Sadly at the moment they seem to be worrying about political correctness over proper policing

I'm in no way an advocate for the Met, but it clearly doesn't help when the home secretary undermines them a couple of days before two rival protest marches are about to happen with the potential incitement for trouble. For that reason alone, Bravverman should be seen as not fit for a high position in the Government.

Another dreadful display from the last night.
