That was probably triggered by the fact that Jackett walked out, rather than he got sacked. You're right though Clarkey, every contract is different so it's difficult to know what pay-off MT got. We all talk about player salaries and contracts, but never managers'. I wonder how much he was on?

Must be nice to give a guy the old 'vote of confidence' and in your next match see a 7-0 drubbing at Bolton I bet MT's phone was ringing on Sunday.

    BBC

"The loss was an eighth defeat in nine League One matches with the Grecians only earning one point in that time.

It was Exeter's heaviest league defeat in 65 years and comes as part of a run that has seen City win just three games in 17 in all competitions.

I wonder if their fans are having a similar debate to us about the merits or otherwise of having a manager going back?

I’m sure I read somewhere recently that Exeter fans didn’t want him back.
It might be that they feel scorned in a way that some Rufc fans might view PW returning though

If true, and as they are fan owned , then perhaps it’s an non starter

Being fan owned and being managed by fans are different.

If the board aren't dumb they'd take him back.

If they are interested I suppose the conundrum for Exeter and MT is that, at the moment, they can’t have his back room staff.
Perhaps they might want to offer us compensation

This is another issue if we appoint a Manager from outside who may want his own team.
We might be telling candidates that the back room team is staying, hence why some have declined our interest. Just speculation

I wondered that too Flour about the backroom staff.
Usually a manager wants to bring in his own people but I think in the past we've told candidates they'll have to work with at least some of the staff that's already here.
As you've suggested that's unlikely to be a particularly attractive proposition for some of the "high calibre" people the chairman says have applied particularly as the job is extremely difficult in the first place.
