What we’ve been lacking in recent weeks is intensity - without that, we’re far too easy to play against. Is Didzy part of the problem there? Maybe, but the bigger problem comes with a Palmer-less midfield to up the tempo.

McGoldrick is clearly a great player and some of his touches and skills are way above L2 level. But if we take away the sentimental aspect, I’m not sure he’s the type of player who would have been on our radar this summer. I was hoping he might be a bit of a cheat code at this level, and while he’s had some sublime moments, I don’t think he’s achieved that. Even so, there’s no way he doesn’t start in any Notts XI I’d pick.
