I think the most pressing issue until we resolve the weak midfield is to stop conceding. If 4 at the back stops that then at least we get is a point.

With Brindley and Chicksen we wouldn’t get a pass over the half way line😜

Would 4 at the back really make us more solid? As someone else said, we had 3 centre halves on Saturday and Nemane still ended up trying to mark the bloke who scored the first goal. The second was at least partly caused by Gosling not going with his man.

I’m more of the opinion that we have personnel issues rather than formation ones.

You are right but we (LW) have to do something.

    Exactly.
And as ever the 4 at the back talk is a waste of time really, LW isn't going to do it.

    I'd go

    Brooks

    Brindley. macari. Baldwin .chicksen

    Nemane Bostock Crowley jones

    Mcgoldrick Langstafff

I could see Crowley doing a job for us in midfield, he's great on the ball, great energy and creative , with Bostock sitting deeper

Just an alternative to the 3-2-4-1
We need at least one person in midfield who can tackle and get about the opposition. Luke Young might be that player, if the Twitter rumours are correct.

Watching as a neutral, the most entertaining teams I’ve seen this season are - no surprises here - Spurs, Liverpool and Villa, and their midfielders run themselves into the ground making life hard for the opposition while also linking play with the forwards. Clearly, we’re three levels below that, but we need a lot more athleticism in the side to take the next step up - and that means no Connells, no Goslings, etc.

Anyone who doesn't include goldfinger in their side is out there minds.
He plays the number 10 for us , scores goals and is big robust and skillful.

All this talk, you can't get away from a good goalkeeper. They inspire confidence in their defence, which in turn, makes the defence play better.
Additionally I think we missed a trick not going for Jamie Grimes and tempting him away from Chesterfield in the close season. He's a born leader and gets the best out of those around him. He's a bit like Steve Blatherwick, a Nottinghamshire lad who was always 100% reliable. Notts lost Blatherwick to Forest, then he ended up at Chesterfield and he always came back to haunt Notts when we played Chesterfield.

Anyway bring in a quality goalkeeper and things will look better - that would be more cost effective than changing the whole back line.

Noooooo. For all his faults, I much prefer Aiden Baldwin.
