Every film was B&W on our TV until about 1985 and some films that I thought were B&W classics turn out to be actually in colour e.g. The 39 Steps.
In addition to ones mentioned, and more recently filmed in B&W for artistic reasons I'd give a mention to The Last Picture Show and very recently, Belfast.
It’s a Wonderful Life.
Great question, Brinny boy. Very tough too. Can give you my top 5 at the moment.
Touch of Evil
The Hidden Fortress
Citizen Kane
The Maltese Falcon
Radio On
Yes - a tough choice. Most of the Bogart films. The third man. Treasure of the Sierra Madre (obviously also a Bogart film}) "We don't need no stinkin badges". Psycho. To kill a mockingbird. Grapes of Wrath. 12 angry men. Some like it hot.
All brilliant.
I'm talking about" treasure of the Sierra Madre" 1927.
However the line I've quoted is indeed from blazing saddles which paraphrases "Badges? We ain't got no badges! We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinking badges!" from treasure of the sierra madre. It's a very famous line often paraphrased in later films or misquoted (by me at least 😂![]()
