I fear you may be confusing John Wetton with Greg Lake's actual immediate (and short lived) successor, Gordon Haskell

I wasn’t sure if AF meant John Wetton (born in Willington) or Richard Palmer James who may have written for them rather than been a band member but definitely had a Derby connection and, as we’re being tenuous, who’s daughter is very good friends with my youngest son. Greg Lake was a hero when I was growing up and ‘I Talk To The Wind’ will forever be in my all time Top 20 songs of ever.

‘Fairytale of New York’ seems to be doing rather well thus far.
