Foster had been named in the preliminary squad despite South Africa being told by Burnley that he would not be available. The South Africans have now conceded he will not be travelling.

Obviously news does not travel fast in SA. Vinni told them that a week ago.

The old club v country debate rears its ugly head again.

I'm glad the SA footy authority saw sense and did not try and force the issue.

It wasn't club v country though, Vinni said at the Presser it was nothing to do with him or BFC, it was a decision made by the medical team into whose care Lyle has been entrusted. In which case the SAFA have little choice but to accept that Foster would not be joining them.

I think if Vinni hadnt put his foot down he would have been there as my original post a while back - but when he said it wasn’t right him going I figure the clubs stance after his support and treatment was enough to make sure he didn’t partake.

Good for Burnley I think it was important decision

Why would Vinni lie about it army, he said quite clearly it was nothing to do with him, Foster is still under medical supervision, the medical team made the decision, seems simple enough to me, what is so hard to understand or believe about that ?

He was eventually omitted from the final squad on Thursday 29/12/2023. The Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Ivory Coast on Jan. 13.

Unless the Clitheroe Advertiser really is the media "go-to" source I suggest we close this topic down.
