Ah a Brexit benefit, we may, possibly but highly unlikely to (because nobody will manufacture them) a PINT of wine and this is being hailed by HM Government as a Brexit freedom!!!!!!!!

Not in recent history and Champagne in particular hails from France so its hardly likely they would produce it in pints!!

Could see it happening but in bottles that are slimmer but look the same as a normal size bottle, and charge the same.

So far as the weights & measures act goes, the only alcoholic beverages that can be sold in pints are draught beer, lager and cider. Cider made from apples, that is. Fruit "ciders" made from other fruit eg red berries cannot be sold in pints on draft as they do not qualify as cider but rather "other fermented beverage".

So while they are going about changing the wine rules to encompass selling it in pints, they can clear up a shed load of other anomalies.

Also, for what it's worth, you can legally buy a one-third of a pint of beer etc too.

What's missing from this is of course the "grand plan" to bring back imperial measurements, only to find on consultation that the majority of consumers and manufacturer's didn't for obvious reasons want to do that!

It will never happen, no manufacturer of wine bottles is going to set up a production line simply to make pint bottles and given that Champagne takes a minimum of 2 years to mature, there aren't going to be pint bottles of champagne for sale in any shop any time soon.

Me I'd bring back the groat, lets really go back to our heritage!!

You need to visit some more trendy bars, you can buy draft fruit ciders* already; Strongbow Dark Fruit, Rattler Peach, and Thatchers Dark Berry, being 3 that immediately spring to mind - obviously, I wouldn't touch such sacrilegious cider cocktails

*I suspect they have some apple content to satisfy the EU bureaucrats narcissistic red tape.

I know you can RS, all I'm saying is that selling these drinks in pints evidently contravenes weights and measures legislation, so they need to fix the rules we have before tinkering with allowing wine in pints (as if there is any point changing wine rules).

PS it's not an EU bureaucratically rule concerning fruit ciders. It's in our weights n measures legislation although it's origins may lay in Brussels
