How can the last
2 displays be so far apart, with the same players. Does it show they're not good enough after all, my mate says a new keeper and 3 defenders needed this window, maybe he's right just can't see it happening, even tho Stone is pants
We need two or three aggressive, physically imposing players who know how to mark and tackle and won't roll over on days like today. Their job will be to stop the opponent, win the ball, and then pass it simply to the lads who can really play, like Crowley, Bostock and Jones.
We've got an abundance of talented footballers, but now we need some nasty f*ckers. 'Leaders' on the pitch who scare the life out the opponent and even their own team-mates if they're not at it.
Get that balance right between nice and nasty and we will be one serious football team!
We've gone top of the goals per game table, but down in 19th on Goals per game against.
3rd on home points, 15th away.
Along with Colchester we're on the worst current away run in L2.
Incredibly poor second half there.
We were chasing the game, start of added time and ball with Brindley. Huge gap in front of him,but he passes it across to Baldwin, to Cameron, back to Baldwin then to Brindley a few yards in front of where he had been. So frustrating at that stage of the game.
I know we play the possession game and I support that, but sometimes I think we need to go for it more than we do. Not helped of course by a bench with no-one who can change it. Fair play to Sanderson, but at 17 if is not realistic to expect him to change the game.
No argument with either penalty although I thought the second should have been Stone's ball - why did he come out and try to tackle with his feet - what happened to keepers taking it off them with their bodies?
How we are missing Palmer and Scott.
Because players aren’t the only variable. The opposition have now won 5 in a row at home. Playing at home is hugely different to playing away.
When people questioned LW’s plan B, it was dismissed on the back of 2 home wins against 2 poor sides. Personally we play the same way at home and away, not many managers in football do that. Not sure why LW does it, our away form is dire.
We didn't look like scoring in the second half and once they scored their third we weren't sharp enough to break them down.
What annoyed me was for most of the second half they were first to 90% of balls and we seemed panicked into losing our shape and composure. It also feels like we're still playing as if our passing game will tire out an opponent's press and it just doesn't.
Baldwin also looked like he didn't trust Stone at several points.
Overall though I thought we'd lose and we did. We're just too leaky, disorganised and sometimes just bad in both defensive midfield and defence. And our bench looks threadbare.
