It’s great we won today playing with a back 4 but I think it’s more to do with the players desire and attitude over the formation.
We don’t have players suited to a back 5 Rico - especially out wide.

They are much more suited to today’s formation & by fück it showed.

If Robson doesn’t stick with this setup then he’s utterly beyond help.

I agree 100% on the attitude bit. I’m sick and tired of the constant no shows. It should be like today every fückin week

Pollock back, Ramadani replacement as depth, left back / wide player & we’re well set for the rest of the season…

Was like comparing night and day this afternoon's performance over Saturday.

I've said I was convinced we had the players, but tactics were honking. We looked like a team today.

A back 4 gave us extra in midfield and our Captain looked like the Shinnie we want on the pitch. His goal today was a peach and really sad to see it disallowed

Clarkson also played as though the lead had been removed from his boots.

I hope Barron hasn't signed elsewhere as I like the loon a lot and not using him these past few weeks should be a sackable offence. I think the damage has been done though and he will move elsewhere, which is a pity.

Miovski is pure class. Love the boy and would love to see him see out the season with us.

County are gash, but don't let that detract from how good we were.

5 at the back can be useful at times, but we should easily brush most teams aside if set up and playing like that.

Much needed confidence booster and a very controlled and effective performance all over the park from start to finish, well done Barry and team, keep it going.
Yes it was only Ross Coonty but last game was "only" a very poor St Midden and we were honking.
Night and day performances, but shows we can do it.
Have been saying all along we should stick with Barry as he is not the biggest problem at our club.
Great stat to 2024, now onwards and upwards and keep it going .

Oh and ffs keep a hold of Miovski

    On another note.
Robson's post match interview was class, admitting that he knows there are things that he himself could have done better so far this season and he is determined to learn from that.
He has the correct winning mentality and should be given time, as he is going to be a decent manager for us I am very confident about that.

As much as I would hate another change of manager I fear Robson will be sacked at some point. I just don't think he has it in him to be a decent manager.

His interviews make me seriously cringe.

It would be great if he did turn it round, but he has seriously p*ssed off a lot of fans this season with his stubbornness over tactics and team selections.

He has been involved in fitba far too long to use the inexperienced card.

Y'know I doubt many sides have the players effective enough to play, dominate and win games playing a back five .

Mainly because you need superstar athletic wingbacks..? Like Andy Robertson . And how many are there ?

We've tried converting wingers, but they seem to lack the defensive skills.

We've tried pushing fullbacks forward. And they are never the best crossers on the attack .

Also when the backs are pushing forward you need a good mobile set of Centrehalfs to cover the spaces. And know who will cover what.

Looked like we struck lucky last season with Scales, Pollock & McDonald. That wasn't long thought out. They were thrown together.

So the back four is far steadier. Easier for them to know their positions to defend. Plus it gives us an extra midfielder or Forward.

Last night the abilities of Barron were obvious. Prior to this Shiñie was being pulled all over. And it showed.

A better defensive midfield allows the forwards room further up the park to press defensively and to attack. No surprise Clarkson got to show his cheeky stuff. McGrath too. ( Boy does the ball stick to his feet !!). Note Miovski didn't have to run way back to get the ball either ?

Nice to also see Ryan Duncan get to come on and play his best position , forward wide attacking. Sokler always looks useful these days.

This , with hindsight ( yes, many were saying it ages ago). is the best starting formation. With decent attacking options to come on from the bench.

Fine tuning still needed. Polvaro was put out as the wide-ish right sided attacker. New to him. He may well adapt. ?

We , err BR & Cormack should treat resigning Barron like they would view signing thon boy Technic. A top priority . Value him as a million pound signing , promise him future Captain's role and pay him a good wedge. The position he plays is important, nay crucial to this team. Get it done AFC. FMB. !!!

That’s great that we won yesterday after a change of formation and hopefully he sticks to it.

But do you think he decided to change the formation himself or he was told to change the formation by his boss?

A lot of people are saying that he was told to change it.

A wee mention for Polvara tho .... he had a few 'ffs' moments early in the game, but overall, I couldna help notice the ground he covered, and the the pace and aggression he put into closing down opposition players in both halves of the pitch. Given the County had slightly more possession, what requires to be done off the ball is important, and I think this was key to County hardly getting a sniff. I think there's a lot more to come from this guy.

McKenzie also worth a mention .... I think Jensen is probably a better defender, but McKenzie adds something to the wide left, in an attacking sense that Hayes is steadily becoming less capable of. Ah'd like to see him get more game time and see how he shapes up.

Well stone the crows !!! Who would have thought 4 at the back would work. I said on 1st page of this thread if he didn't change to 4 at the back and win this game it would probably be his downfall. Glad he changed it and glad we won. Clarkson and Shinnie much better today and I thought Barron did well too. Simply hope and pray Bojan stays until the end of the season and bangs in a few more goals and ups his profile and value.

There is certainly a player in Polvara. The best thing we could have done for the loon was loan him too a Caley Thistle or Arbroath type team. Wouldn't improve him technically, but the experience would make him a better player.

I like McKenzie too. He's one of our own, so criticism of him is a bitt ott, like any of our own youngsters coming through.
Think a good run of games in a settled position could be the making of him.
