We're in a bad place result-wise, but to even point the finger at Eddie when we all know the circumstances + what that man has achieved for the club in such a short space of time, is baffling and worrying.
Some of our fans are having far too high standards for where we are right now, and this will create unrealistic expectations and ultimately misery for them.
This is true. Some seem to think we’re up with the big 6 already. Have look at what subs each side brought on on monday and see what you think.
We punched way above our weight last season due to 2 things: Eddie Howe and a poor season from a couple of the big 6 sides.
I’ll decide my opinion on this season when it finishes - till then I’ll keep looking at the big picture.
To be clear, I’m not calling for Eddie to go. I was stating that if we lose our next 3 games he will be under enormous pressure, both from the board and a fair section of the fanbase. I think the majority will support him and the players beyond this difficult spell, me included. Some supporters have turned on a couple of players already though - Dan Burn being the most recent example, Miggy before that. Eddie won’t get much more time before the virtual Twitter pitch forks come out.
If we were playing anybody else on Saturday I’d have played the kids and essentially thrown the game. However, I now think it’s the biggest derby in many years as it could make or break our season. We need to be smart though and rotate a couple, I’d rest Gordon and play Miggy. Gordon has been playing as if injured for a few games now. I’d also consider Krafth at LB and Tino at RB if Tripps is missing. Would be harsh on Burn but no room for sentiment. Priority is to win the game.
There seems to be a rabbit off with Hall because I'd play him in normal circumstances.
I suspect Trippier will be ok but would be happy enough with Tino and Krafth-think Krafth's older, wiser head could prove very useful in what's bound to be a fiery encounter.
Personally I think it’s clear that Hall isn’t ready for first team football at left back. He was originally a central midfielder before making his Chelsea debut at left back. I think people tend to forget that, or not know at all. He has barely played any senior football so the clamour to start him makes no sense to me. Miley was thrown in out of necessity and has done well despite our form. However, when we have bodies back he will also be protected and taken out of the team.
To be honest i reckon we’ll win on Saturday. Comfortably. Inferior opposition will allow us more control of the ball. We’re better with the ball than without it at the minute. As long as we sort out the holding midfielder of the 3 and ask one of them, presumably Bruno to keep his head and protect the centre backs better, we’ll win and Eddie will be under less pressure. Easy, really.
Aye, Bruno keeping his head will be key. I reckon they'll have tasked one of their players to wind him-or Big Joe, up.
Much as I like their passion, those two get some needless cards.
Which is disgraceful in my opinion. One thing is criticizing, another is turning on players, declaring them to have no future here all of a sudden.
Take Burn and Miguel; it's very true that they simply aren't performing right now, however all it takes is a goal from Miggy and a solid performance from Burn for fans to be reminded that they are both decent players that can still do a job for us and turn it around. Long-term these are squad players at best, but with where we're at we need to support them in order for them to find the level - and form - we know they have.
