Scott much like TAR and Austin, are thought of as much better players when not playing.
Has Scott really shown he’s in ML’s bracket at all?
Scott obviously isn’t at Macca’s level, no one is at this level, but we’ve missed him massively. Was always our go to attacking sub when we needed to change it up a bit, which we’ve not really had at all since he got injured, and could slot in anywhere in the front three and do a decent job.
A bit like Bajrami (and Austin but he’s still fit and available), none are going to be our outstanding players, but their ability to do a solid job across a number of positions makes them really important to the squad. We’ve really missed both Scott and Baj.
I think Scott’s done well but where he has struggled in my eyes is he’s been out of position a lot of the time. Playing him in the box midfield isn’t really to his strengths, he’s simply not nimble or skillful enough, that could change though when he’s back and with a new manager and of course if Langstaffs gone.
Scott looked brilliant Christmas, new year when Langstaff was out for a few games
I really rate Scott highly, he would have come in for all the cup matches if fit and we'd probably be sat at Meadow Lanew now watching us play Wrexham in the Cup if he'd been fit.
Up until his injury last season, he was on par, if not slightly more effective in goals per minute. Bearing in mind he minds a big chunk of the season, he still scored nearly 20 goals last season. Not saying he's on Macca's level but would certainly make Macca's leaving an easier transition
Maybe I should have said as permanent first team players.
Do we honestly think Bajrami, TAR and Scott would be regular starters in our first team if all fit and available?
I just don’t see it. Fully see the squad role for them, well for Scott and Austin. TAR and Baj for me less so.
