Why is insane, tbh do not know why the away supporters were given the JS in 2008, as prior to this was always in the JS as a Notts supporter for many years till this was changed
As for helping Notts, well since 2008 apart from munto season it has not helped much, and in the 80,s and 90,s we were in higher divisions with the away support being in the kop end
Personally i would never give a large amount of away supporters, prime seats along a pitch, but believe its more the team, its players, managers and owners that lead to success , not where away supporters are seated
I’m confused Davy. You start by saying giving the Kop back to away followings would not in your opinion be insane.. followed by not giving away huge numbers in prime seats (that’s a matter of opinion, I prefer looking down the pitch from goal to goal rather than having the game left to right and vice versa). You then say it’s players, owners and management that lead to success.
So where the away fans sit does and doesn’t make a difference in your opinion. Which is it?
By the way I agree that the number of away fans and where they sit makes no difference to the outcome of a game. I love being in the Kop and if we were to give a stand up behind the goal, then bye bye family stand.
The issue we have at Notts is that a good proportion of fans don’t sing..we seldom have an electric atmosphere. It’s easier for away fans as they are on a day out and many would have had a few liveners.
Thought i had made it perfectly clear
Up till 2008, homw supporters were always in the JS and we played in the 2 top divisions, since 2008 away supporters have been in the JS, well this has not helped Notts as we steadily dropped lower
And finished by saying i believe its the owners, managers and players that make a team good, not where away supporters sit , and for me the switch in 2008 was a waste of time, that has lead to no benefit for Notts
Maybe there hasn’t been a benefit to Notts on the pitch. However, one thing you haven’t considered and I would say it’s important is the supporter experience. Having a choice of being behind a goal with the more vocal supporters or sat in DP and enjoying a different experience is important. As is how you get to watch the game. As I said previously, I prefer the play going to and from me as opposed to across me (left/right).
As you say where away fans sit has no bearing kn results. However having the choice of how I or any home fan enjoys the experience at the game has definitely impacted attendances. Why was a new expensive sound system important?
As an FYI I spent many a game in Z block but the view was ****.
Going even further than that leading up to 2008 , Notts were struggling at the wrong end of league 2, the reason the owners, management and players were crap
People then tried to say it was because of the away supporters in the Kop making to much noise and taking over the match atmosphere lol. Other clubs have come out with even more crazy ideas, at Birmingham City, they got the priests in to pray at the ground, as they believed the ground was cursed lol.
And wolves kept losing at home, the matchday mascots were to blame, and the the reason they kept losing and they were sacked lol
Remember if a team keeps losing and is generally dropping lower, its because the owners, managers or players are crap, either one of the afore mentioned or all 3
