Carlton Morris was plagued by injury for most of his career before we signed him. He was a gamble, very much a player on the peripherals during his time as a Norwich player going out on loan mostly. He made 150 appearances for various loan clubs in his first 7 seasons as a professional scoring 22 times. We took a chance and it worked.
He may have cost an estimated 300k but I bet his wages would've been way above what we could pay as a club in league 1.
I get that there's strikers out there but for 500k, thy either teks a chance on a crock or unearths the next Les Ferdinand from a non league club. Chances of either scenario coming off are very very slim.
Personally I'd keep Cole and let him move on a free when his contract is up assuming that he refuses a new deal. That would be the smartest move from our point of view. With Cole in the side we have a chance of promotion. Without him, I'd say forget it.
Ennyrooard, I thought the Dee Dahs were currently operating under a transfer embargo which means that they can't sign any players until their debts to HM revenue and customs are cleared? I remember reading a letter from Chansiri to the fans asking 20,000 fans to stump up a grand each to clear the debt as he was unprepared to put any more of his own cash in.
