Result went our way today .But it aint over till the fat wifie sings.
Good after everything that's been reported about the club recently that we get a bit of optimism going into the wee break. Totl and with a game in hand will do nicely for now.
Need PLastic Whistle to pressure Raith from below now.
Need us to just keep picking up points. The rest will take care of itself, it really will.
It feels this morning that we’ve caught a major break this weekend. Injuries, suspensions, depleted line up, freezing Inverness, Friday night, defeat the previous week, Raith at home to second bottom team etc etc. It all seemed to be adding up to one inevitable outcome - losing further ground. From the back to back cup defeats, morale and confidence on (and off) the park seems to have been ebbing, undoubtedly due to a tail off in form but I suspect also due to Raith’s weekly miracles. You can’t say for certain but deep down the players probably think with the league form that we’ve displayed that we should be a good 7-8 points clear, with Rovers maybe sitting roughly where Thistle are right now. You can’t say for certain but I reckon they’ve been spooked a bit by it all. Players will say officially that they’re only concentrating on their own performances but you can’t possibly say that they also haven’t been keeping an eye on RR and their last kick/minute escapades. Human nature being what it is, it’s not unreasonable I don’t think to suggest it’s had an impact on morale and confidence culminating in the loss to Rovers at Tannadice. Off the pitch, you can’t deny we’ve all been affected - punters have been getting nervy as phuck and that transmits back in to the pitch.
Hopefully now after this weekend some degree of confidence will return. We’re rapidly seeing that Rovers are not some sort of Championship Galacticos and Ian Murray is not Pep after all. I’d like to think with this enforced (and unwanted but hey ho!) break, that we can get guys back fit, Grieve and Wotherspoon can integrate in, we can hopefully get another body in the door, get Birighitti the phuck OOT the door but importantly we can reset, re-focus, get the confidence back and start to push on again.
